Synthesis of a Tetraazido-Substituted 2-Tetrazene from 1,5-Cyclooctadiene and Iodine Azide
1997
In contrast to the addition of iodine azide to cyclooctene (1) or 1,3-cyclooctadiene (5), its reaction with 1,5-cyclooctadiene (12) leads mainly to the surprisingly stable tetraazido-substituted 2-tetrazene 14 The structure of this was established by 15N-NMR studies and an X-ray structural analysis. Treatment of 14 with hydrochloric acid yields the diazido-substituted 9-azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane 20.

A second monoclinic polymorph of 2-(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-2-hydroxyimino-N'-[1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene]acetohydrazide
2013
[Introduction] The title compound, C 14 H 16 N 6 O 2 , is a second monoclinic polymorph of 2-[1-(3,5-dimethyl)pyrazolyl]-2-hydroxyimino- N 0 -[1-(2-pyridyl)ethylidene] acetohydrazide, with two crystal- lographically independent molecules per asymmetric unit. The non-planar molecules are chemically equal having similar geometric parameters. The previously reported polymorph [Plutenko et al. (2012). Acta Cryst. E 68 , o3281] was described in space group Cc ( Z = 4). The oxime group and the O atom of the amide group are anti with respect to the C—C bond. In the crystal, molecules are connected by N—H N hydrogen bonds into zigzag chains extending along the b axis. peerReviewed
Site-specific DBCO modification of DEC205 antibody for polymer conjugation
2018
The design of multifunctional polymer-based vectors, forming pDNA vaccines, offers great potential in cancer immune therapy. The transfection of dendritic immune cells (DCs) with tumour antigen-encoding pDNA leads to an activation of the immune system to combat tumour cells. In this work, we investigated the chemical attachment of DEC205 antibodies (aDEC205) as DC-targeting structures to polyplexes of P(Lys)-b-P(HPMA). The conjugation of a synthetic block copolymer and a biomacromolecule with various functionalities (aDEC205) requires bioorthogonal techniques to avoid side reactions. Click chemistry and in particular the strain-promoted alkyne-azide cycloaddition (SPAAC) can provide the req…
A Highly Decreased Binding of Cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate to Protein Kinase A in Erythrocyte Membranes is Specific for Active Psoriasis
2002
A cyclic adenosine monophosphate binding abnormality in psoriatic erythrocytes that could be corrected by retinoid treatment has been reported. It was tested whether this binding abnormality is specific for psoriasis and the effects of treatment were compared with etretinate, cyclosporine A, or anthralin on 2-(3)H-8-N(3)-cyclic adenosine monophosphate binding to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A in erythrocyte membranes. One hundred and fifteen individuals were evaluated, including: (i) 34 healthy persons; (ii) 15 patients with nonatopic inflammatory skin diseases (eczema, erythroderma, tinea, Grover's disease, erysipelas, urticaria); (iii) eight with other dermatoses mediated by i…
Factors related to the impact of antihypertensive treatment in antioxidant activities and oxidative stress by-products in human hypertension
2004
The objective was to study factors related to the changes induced by antihypertensive treatment on oxidative status, antioxidant activities, and reactive oxygen species by-products in whole blood and mononuclear peripheral cells. Eighty-nine hypertensive patients (mean age 46 years, 46 men, average 24-h blood pressure 139/88 mm Hg, body mass index 29) were included. After 3 months of nonrandomized allocation to antihypertensive treatment (20 nonpharmacologic, 36 beta-blockers, 33 angiotensin receptor blocker), oxidized/reduced glutathione ratio and malondialdehyde were significantly reduced, and the activity of superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase was significantly inc…
Effects of nebivolol and atenolol on central aortic pressure in hypertensive patients: a multicenter, randomized, double-blind study.
2013
The main objective was to compare the mean change in augmentation index of hypertensive patients treated with nebivolol or atenolol.Multicenter, double-blind randomized study conducted in six Spanish centers. We enrolled outpatients between the ages of 40 and 65 years with mild or moderate essential hypertension (systolic blood pressure, SBP ≥ 140 mmHg to ≤ 179 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure, DBP ≥ 90 mmHg to ≤ 109 mmHg after a 2-week run-in placebo period). Patients received nebivolol 5 mg or atenolol 50 mg once daily. At week 3, atenolol could be titrated up to 100 mg qd for non-responders. Additionally, patients not achieving normal blood pressure after 6 weeks could be treated with 2…
The effects of telmisartan alone or in combination with hydrochlorothiazide on morning home blood pressure control: The SURGE 2 practice-based study
2013
SURGE 2, a large-scale, practice-based study in 10 countries, evaluated the effects of telmisartan alone or with hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) on morning (06:00 – 11:59) home blood pressure (HBP) control. Hypertensive patients (clinic blood pressure [BP] 140/90 mmHg) received telmisartan 40 or 80 mg either alone or in combination with HCTZ 12.5 mg for 8 weeks. Treatment could be adjusted if clinic BP remained 140/90 mmHg. Clinic BP was measured in the morning prior to medication, and seated HBP monitoring was performed, three times per day, 2 days per week. A total of 25,882 patients were included (71% were previously using antihypertensives). There was a statistically signifi cant (all p 0.00…
Effects of drug therapy on cardiac arrhythmias and ischemia in hypertensives with LVH.
2001
Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in hypertensive subjects is associated with an increased prevalence of ventricular arrhythmias. To evaluate the effect of antihypertensive treatment on cardiac arrhythmias (CA) and transient episodes of myocardial ischemia (TEMI), we studied 46 hypertensive patients with LVH, divided into four groups randomly treated with enalapril, hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ), atenolol, or verapamil (SR-V) for 6 months. Office blood pressure and office heart rate values were recorded, in basal conditions, after 1 and 6 months of treatment, and all patients underwent echocardiography, electrocardiographic Holter monitoring, and stress testing. All drugs significantly lowere…
