Suomalainen aikakauslehti, lukijan tarpeet ja mediamurros

2016

This thesis discusses commercial Finnish magazines in the midst of media disruption. First, this research clarifies what has been the core content of printed magazines. Then this study focuses on finding out what kind of reader needs the producers of these magazines tried to satisfy. The purpose of this study is to discuss, whether the core content of magazines and the methods of satisfying the readers’ needs could be transferred to the digital media environment and in what way. The theoretical framework of this study is the notion of media concept. It allows viewing magazines as a vast whole and demonstrates a relationship between content and the audience’s needs. In addition, this study u…

Asymmetric Ring Opening in Tetrazine‐based Ligand Affording a Tetranuclear Opto‐Magnetic Ytterbium Complex

2021

We report the formation of a tetranuclear lanthanide cluster, [Yb 4 (bpzch) 2 (fod) 10 ] ( 1 ), which occurs from a serendipitous ring opening of the functionalized tetrazine bridging ligand, bpztz (3,6‐dipyrazin‐2‐yl‐1,2,4,5‐tetrazine) upon reacting with Yb(fod) 3 (fod ‐ = 6,6,7,7,8,8,8‐heptafluoro‐2,2‐dimethyl‐3,5‐octandionate). Compound 1 was structurally elucidated via single‐crystal X‐ray crystallography and subsequently magnetically and spectroscopically characterized to analyse its magnetisation dynamics and its luminescence behaviour. Computational studies validate the observed M J energy levels attained by spectroscopy and provides a clearer picture of the slow relaxation of the ma…

Evaluation of Superparamagnetic Silica Nanoparticles for Extraction of Triazines in Magnetic in-Tube Solid Phase Microextraction Coupled to Capillary…

2014

The use of magnetic nanomaterials for analytical applications has increased in the recent years. In particular, magnetic nanomaterials have shown great potential as adsorbent phase in several extraction procedures due to the significant advantages over the conventional methods. In the present work, the influence of magnetic forces over the extraction efficiency of triazines using superparamagnetic silica nanoparticles (NPs) in magnetic in tube solid phase microextraction (Magnetic-IT-SPME) coupled to CapLC has been evaluated. Atrazine, terbutylazine and simazine has been selected as target analytes. The superparamagnetic silica nanomaterial (SiO2-Fe3O4) deposited onto the surface of a capil…

"Make him worship you" : the representation of feminine sexuality and female discourses in Seventeen and Cosmopolitan

2017

Erityisesti seksuaalisuuden kuvaaminen lehdissä on noussut tärkeäksi osaksi tutkimuskenttää, sillä aiheeseen liittyvän sisällön määrä on viime vuosikymmeninä lisääntynyt monissa naisille suunnatuissa julkaisuissa. Lehtien representaatioilla on merkittävä rooli naisten seksuaalisuutta koskevien käsitysten välittäjänä sekä näiden käsitysten muokkaajana. Täm…

Sad, lonely and looking for love? : representations of singleness on Cosmopolitan.com

2016

A Co36Cluster Assembled from the Reaction of Cobalt Pivalate with 2,3-Dicarboxypyrazine

2009

A record Co36 cluster is prepared. This mixed-valent compound containing CoII and CoIII centers is formed in the reaction of a dinuclear cobalt pivalate species with the polydentate 2,3-dicarboxypyrazine ligand. In terms of magnetic properties it behaves as a {Co16-Co16} supramolecular dimer in which the S = A spin ground states of each monomer do not interact. Fil: Alborés, Pablo. Data from: How to fight multiple enemies: target-specific chemical defences in an aposematic moth

2017

Animals have evolved different defensive strategies to survive predation, among which chemical defences are particularly widespread and diverse. Here we investigate the function of chemical defence diversity, hypothesising that such diversity has evolved as a response to multiple enemies. The aposematic wood tiger moth (Arctia plantaginis) displays conspicuous hindwing colouration and secretes two distinct defensive fluids, from their thoracic glands and abdomen. We presented fluids from lab-reared moths to two biologically relevant predators, birds and ants, and measured their reaction in controlled bioassays (no information on colour was provided). We found that defensive fluids are targe…

Data from: De novo synthesis of chemical defences in an aposematic moth

2019

Many animals protect themselves from predation with chemicals, both self-made or sequestered from their diet. The potential drivers of the diversity of these chemicals have been long studied, but our knowledge them, and their acquisition mode, is heavily based on specialist herbivores that sequester their defences. The wood tiger moth (Arctia plantaginis, Linnaeus, 1758) is a well-studied aposematic species, but the nature of its chemical defences has not been fully described. Here we report the presence of two methoxypyrazines, 2-sec-butyl-3-methoxypyrazine and 2-isobutyl-3-methoxypyrazine, in the moths’ defensive secretions. By raising larvae on an artificial diet, we confirm, for the fir…

Evaluation of the concept of heterology in a monoclonal antibody-based ELISA utilizing direct hapten linkage to polystyrene microtiter plates.

2005

A series of new heterologous haptens has been synthesized and used as coating haptens in an antigen-immobilized immunoassay with a monoclonal antibody against atrazine. Coating was achieved by covalently linking the different haptens to a glutaraldehyde network directly bound to the polystyrene surface of a standard 96-well microtiter plate. With the assay designed in the antigen-immobilized format with direct chemical linkage of the hapten to the solid polystyrene surface well-defined hapten densities were achieved in all experiments. The results of different experiments with different coating haptens were comparable. Using different heterologous haptens it appears that the concept of hete…

Synthesis, biological evaluation, and structure-activity relationship study of novel cytotoxic aza-caffeic acid derivatives.

2010

Abstract Three series of aza-caffeic acid derivatives with different linkers were designed and synthesized. Each of the synthesized derivatives was then used in cytotoxicity screening on either 8 or 12 human cancer cell lines. The structure–activity relationships on three structural regions A, B, and C are analyzed in detail, indicating that a nine bond linker B, containing a piperazine unit, is the most favorable linker leading to the generation of molecules with potent cytotoxicities. Compound ( E )-1-(4-(3,4-dichlorobenzyl)piperazin-1-yl)-3-(4-(4-ethoxybenzyloxy)-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one ( 80 ) exhibited the most significant and selective cytotoxicity to KB, BEL7404, K562, and…
