Response of soil bacterial community structure to successive perturbations of different types and intensities
2008
SummaryIn soil, genetic structure modifications of indigenousbacterial community consecutively to a severe stress(mercury contamination) were delayed when thecommunity was pre-exposed to various minor per-turbations (heat, copper and atrazine). Such minorperturbations induced transitory community struc-ture modifications leading to an increase of commu-nity stability towards a severe mercury stress. Theseresults illustrated well the short-term pre-adaptationprocess for bacterial community hypothesizing thatcommunity submitted to perturbations become moreresistant to withstand another stress. Compared with other environmental matrices of the bio-sphere, soils are considered as the main reservo…
Effect of primary mild stresses on resilience and resistance of the nitrate reducer community to a subsequent severe stress
2008
International audience; The factors regulating soil microbial stability (e.g. resistance and resilience) are poorly understood, even though microorganisms are essential for ecosystem functioning. In this study, we tested whether a functional microbial community subjected to different primary mild stresses was equally resistant or resilient to a subsequent severe stress. The nitrate reducers were selected as model community and analysed in terms of nitrate reduction rates and genetic structure by narG PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism fingerprinting. Heat, copper and atrazine were used as primary stresses and mercury at a high concentration as a severe stress. None of the primary …

Reproductive effects in German cockroaches by ecdysteroid agonist RH-0345, juvenile hormone analogue methoprene and carbamate benfuracarb
2004
1379-1176 (Print) Journal Article Research Support, Non-U.S. Gov't; Blatta germanica is the more prevalent cockroach species in Algeria. In the present study, we tested the effect on reproduction in B. germanica of two insect growth regulators, RH-0345, a benzoylhydrazine analogue that mimics the action of 20-hydroxyecdysone, and methoprene, one of the most commercially important juvenile hormone analogues, and a novel carbamate insecticide, benfuracarb. The compounds were applied topically (10 and 20 microg/insect for RH-0345, and 1 and 10 microg/insect for methoprene) or orally administrated (at 2% for benfuracarb) on newly emerged females and evaluated on reproductive events during the a…

The title compound, C24H22N2OP2, is an asymmetrically substituted hydrazine derivative bearing a phosphoryl and a phosphanyl substituent. The PNNP backbone has a torsion angle of −131.01 (8)°. In the crystal, molecules form centrosymmetric dimers by intermolecular N—H...O hydrogen bonds, which are further linked into a three-dimensional network by weak C—H...O and C—H...π interactions.
The key role of hydrogen bonding in the nuclearity of three copper(II) complexes with hydrazone-derived ligands and nitrogen donor heterocycles
2011
International audience; Three new Cu(II) complexes of formula [Cu(L1)(pyz)(CH3OH)]ClO4 (1), [Cu(L1)(4,4′-bpy)(ClO4)]·0.5H2O (2) and [{Cu(L2)(ClO4)}2(μ-4,4′-bpy)] (3) have been synthesised by using pyrazine (pyz) and 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bpy) and tridentate O,N,O-donor hydrazone ligands, L1H and L2H, obtained by the condensation of 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,4-pentanedione with salicyloylhydrazide and benzhydrazide, respectively. The ligands and their complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR, and UV–Vis spectroscopies. Single crystal X-ray structure analysis evidences the metal ion in a slightly deformed square pyramidal geometry in all the complexes. However complexes 1 and 2 …
Tautomerism in pyridazin-3(2H)-one: a theoretical study using implicit/explicit solvation models.
2013
Abstract The tautomeric conversion of pyridazin-3(2H)-one 1 into pyridazin-3-ol 2 has been theoretically studied using density functional theory (DFT) methods at the B3LYP/6-311++G** level. Two mechanisms have been considered for this process: (i) one in which the hydrogen is directly transferred through TS12; and (ii) another one in which a double hydrogen transfer takes place via TS1122 upon formation of the corresponding dimer. The former requires a very high activation energy of 42.64 kcal/mol as a consequence of the strain associated with the formation of the four-membered TS12, while the latter requires a much lower activation energy, 14.66 kcal/mol. Implicit, explicit, and a combinat…
Solving the Hydrogen and Lithium Substructure of Poly(triazine imide)/LiCl Using NMR Crystallography
2016
Poly(triazine imide) with incorporated lithium chloride has recently attracted substantial attention due to its photocatalytic activity for water splitting. However, an apparent H/Li disorder prevents the delineation of structure–property relationships, for example, with respect to band-gap tuning. Herein, we show that through a combination of one- and two-dimensional, multinuclear solid-state NMR spectroscopy, chemical modelling, automated electron diffraction tomography, and an analysis based on X-ray pair distribution functions, it is finally possible to resolve the H/Li substructure. In each cavity, one hydrogen atom is bound to a bridging nitrogen atom, while a second one protonates a …
15N NMR: Substituent effect analysis inpara-andmeta-substituted phenylhydrazines
1994
15N NMR spectra of phenylhydrazine and of 14 para- and meta-substituted phenylhydrazines were measured at natural isotope abundance in DMSO-d6 solution. The substituent present exerts a larger influence on the chemical shift of the nitrogen atom directly bound to the aromatic ring (N-1) than on the second one (N-2), which shows an attenuated and inverted trend. The chemical shifts of N-1 and N-2 give a good cross correlation in both series of compounds if p-NO2 and m-F derivatives are excluded from the correlations of para- and meta-substituted phenylhydrazines, respectively. Moreover, N-1 SCS values show good linear correlations with Hammett substituent constants, with SCSs of directly bou…
Genetic rearrangement of the atzAB atrazine-degrading gene cassette from pADP1::Tn5 to the chromosome of Variovorax sp. MD1 and MD2
2007
International audience; We report the characterization of the rearrangement phenomena responsible for the movement of the atrazine-degrading atzA and B genes from pADP1::Tn5 to the chromosome of Variovorax sp. MD1 and MD2. Long PCRs and Southern blot analyses revealed that the two genes forming a gene cassette moved in a unique rearrangement event. It also revealed that the boundaries of the plasmid sequence inserted in the chromosome correspond to IS1071or to sequences close to IS1071. It suggests that this genetic rearrangement could result from the transposition of the composite transposon delimited by IS1071 insertion sequences and containing atzA and atzB genes. In addition, for MD1 an…
