Abstract Despite the biologically damaging impacts of solar ultraviolet radiation (UV) in nature, little is known about its natural variability, forcing mechanisms, and long-term effects on ecosystems and organisms. Arctic zooplankton, for example the aquatic keystone genus Daphnia (Crustacea, Cladocera) responds to biologically damaging UV by utilizing photoprotective strategies, including pigmentation. The availability of iron (Fe) varies considerably among diet items, as well as ecosystems. Availability of Fe has also changed due to anthropogenic environmental changes in oceanic as well as inland ecosystems. We know little about its role in the nutrition of ecologically important consumers, particularly in inland ecosystems. Physiological studies in several taxa indicate marked effects of dietary Fe on oogenesis. We predicted that differential Fe supply to algae will impact algal Fe concentration with consequences on the life history of the freshwater grazer, Daphnia magna. Benth. is widely used in herbal medicine, and it is sold in herbalist shops for its sedative and antispasmodic properties. This article proposes to reconsider the concept of lived experience by the consumer which is the object of a normative vision in marketing. Thanks to the concept of value, we seek to improve the conceptualization of the experience by defining it as an interaction place - object. We conduct an empirical analysis on the field of live shows to compare rival modellings of lived experience. The results show the importance of the consumption place as frame of lived experience and confirm an indirect influence of the place on global perceived value. Finally, they allow a validation of differents scales used in this model.
