Improved co-oxidation of β-carotene to β-ionone using xanthine oxidase-generated reactive oxygen species in a multiphasic system

beta-Ionone, an aroma compound exhibiting flower notes, can be obtained from beta-carotene in a cooxidation system utilizing xanthine oxidase-generated reactive oxygen species (ROS). ROS have to be controlled as, although they can give rise to beta-ionone, they may also degrade it. In this work, the biotransformation of beta-carotene into beta-ionone was investigated in systems containing variable proportions of decane to extract beta-ionone before degradation. The use of 50% or 90% decane resulted in increased production yields. Publiskā runa tiek uzskatīta par izšķirošu prasmi, kas ietekmē tālāk apmācību un nodarbinātības veiksmi. Tomēr daudzās EFL klasēs, kur mācās angļu valodu kā svešvalodu, runas prasmju attīstība nav pietiekami risināta. Tāpēc, šī Diplomdarba autore veica šo jautājumu izpēti un izveidoja attiecīgu programmu, kas ļauj uzlabot skolnieku publiskās runas prasmes. Lai sasniegtu mērķi, tika izmantota praktiskā izpētes metode divu mēnešu garumā – no 2017. gada oktobra līdz novembrim. Abstract The mechanisms of aposematism (unprofitability of prey combined with a conspicuous signal) have mainly been studied with reference to vertebrate predators, especially birds. We investigated whether dragonflies, Aeshna grandis, avoid attacking wasps, Vespula norwegica, which are an unprofitable group of prey for most predators. As a control we used flies that were painted either black or with yellow and black stripes. The dragonflies showed greater aversion to wasps than to flies. Black-and-yellow-striped flies were avoided more than black ones, suggesting that aposematic coloration on a harmless fly provides a selective advantage against invertebrate predators. This study applied the functional theory of political campaign discourse, developed for political campaigns in the United States to two televised presidential debates in the 2012 presidential elections in Finland. Acclaims were the most preferred statement by the candidates, with agreements being the least preferred. Policy was discussed more than character during the debates.
