Coping with pandemics using social network sites: A psychological detachment perspective to COVID-19 stressors

Prior research has often portrayed information technology (IT) as a stressor. In this paper, we propose and demonstrate that IT can also be an effective means of coping with life stressors, including those induced by pandemics such as COVID-19. We thus deviate from the common IT-as-a-stressor perspective and adopt an IT-as-a-coping-mechanism viewpoint. To this end, we apply the stressor-detachment model from organisational psychology to the use of social network sites (SNSs) in coping with stressors wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic. Deep Metric Learning for Transparent Classification of Covid-19 X-Ray Images

This work proposes an interpretable classifier for automatic Covid-19 classification using chest X-ray images. It is based on a deep learning model, in particular, a triplet network, devoted to finding an effective image embedding. Such embedding is a non-linear projection of the images into a space of reduced dimension, where homogeneity and separation of the classes measured by a predefined metric are improved. A K-Nearest Neighbor classifier is the interpretable model used for the final classification. FPGA components are widely used today to perform various algorithms (digital filtering) in real time. The emergence of Dynamically Reconfigurable (DR) FPGAs made it possible to reduce the number of necessary resources to carry out an image processing application (tasks chain). We present in this article an image processing application (image rotation) that exploits the FPGA's dynamic reconfiguration feature. A comparison is undertaken between the dynamic and static reconfiguration by using two criteria, cost and performance criteria. For the sake of testing the validity of our approach in terms of Algorithm and Architecture Adequacy , we realized an AT40K40 based board ARDOISE.
