Dimerization control in the self-assembly behavior of copillar[5]arenes bearing ω-hydroxyalkoxy groups.
2012
Two novel copillar[5]arenes bearing ω-hydroxyalkoxy groups are synthesized and their self-assembly properties are studied by (1)H NMR spectroscopy, specific viscosity, and X-ray measurements. The copillar[5]arene 2b bearing a 6-hydroxyhexyloxy group exhibits a reversible self-assembly behavior, leading to the formation of the self-inclusion monomer and hugging dimers. The reversible self-assembly behavior can be controlled by tuning solvent, temperature, guest, and H-bond interaction. However, the copillar[5]arene 2a bearing a short 4-hydroxybutyloxy group does not show such a self-assembly behavior to the formation of the self-inclusion monomer and hugging dimers.
OH–π and halogen–π interactions as driving forces in the crystal organisations of tri-bromo and tri-iodo trityl alcohols
2008
The trityl alcohols bearing three bromine or three iodine atoms at the para-positions of the aromatic units, have been known for more than a hundred years. In our case these compounds have been synthesized in one-pot sequence starting from the 1,4-dihalogenobenzenes via mono-lithiation and the successive reaction with diethylcarbonate. The compounds have been crystallized from different solvent mixtures leading to one structure of bromo- (A) and three structures of iodo trityl alcohols (B–D). The inclusion of dichloromethane (C) or benzene (D) in the crystalline lattices has been observed. In all cases the OH–π and halogen–π (and in one case the halogen-halogen and CH-O weak) contacts play …
Synthese substituierter 1,4-Divinylbenzole durch doppelte Heck-Reaktion mit Ethen unter Druck
1999
Substituted 1,4-divinylbenzenes 3a–i were synthesized by twofold Heck coupling from the corresponding 1,4-dibromo) (electron withdrawing substituents) or 1,4-di-iododialkoxybenzenes 1a–i and ethene. Oligomerizations could be suppressed by increasing the pressure of ethene to 30 bar, simultaneously improving the yields of the title compounds.
Low zone tolerance induced by systemic application of allergens inhibits TC1-mediated skin inflammation
2005
Background The induction of tolerance may be a promising target of strategies aimed at preventing harmful allergic diseases. Low zone tolerance (LZT), induced by epicutaneous application of low doses of contact allergens, inhibits the development of T C 1-mediated contact hypersensitivity (CHS). Objective We evaluated the effect of systemic (oral, intravenous) administration of low amounts of haptens on specific immune reactions and tolerance induction. Methods By using the mouse model of LZT, we analyzed immune reactions in vivo (skin inflammation) and T-cell responses in vitro after oral, intravenous, or epicutaneous application of low amounts of the contact allergen 2,4,6-trinitro-1-chlo…
Induction of regulatory T cells by leflunomide in a murine model of contact allergen sensitivity.
2006
Allergic contact dermatitis and contact hypersensitivity (CHS) are characterized by allergen-specific activation of CD8 + and CD4 + T cells and the production of cytokines resulting in an inflammatory response and tissue damage. We show here that the immunosuppressive compound leflunomide ( N -[4-trifluoro-methylphenyl]-5-methylisoxazol-4 carboxamide, HWA 486) (LF) inhibited the contact allergic response induced in mice by epicutaneous application of the haptens dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB) and oxazolone. The extent of ear swelling remained significantly reduced following repeated challenge with DNFB for up to 18 weeks. LF and DNFB had to be applied simultaneously for inhibition to occur. Th…
Tuning Azoheteroarene Photoswitch Performance through Heteroaryl Design
2017
International audience; Photoswitchable compounds, which can be reversibly switched between two isomers by light, continue to attract significant attention for a wide array of applications. Azoheteroarenes represent a relatively new but understudied type of photoswitch, where one of the aryl rings from the conventional azobenzene class has been replaced with a five-membered heteroaromatic ring. Initial studies have suggested the azoheteroarenes – the arylazopyrazoles in particular – to have excellent photoswitching properties (quantitative switching and long Z isomer half-life). Here we present a systematic computational and experimental study to elucidate the origin of the long thermal hal…
A CNDO/2 study on the additivity and the nature of the non-additivity of the substituent effects on13C NMR shifts in chlorobenzenes and chlorophenols
1980
The general correlation between the electron densities and the 13C NMR chemical shifts is found to be quite poor in the cases discussed. The non-additivities of the substituent effects on the chemical shifts and the CNDO/2 electron densities correlate only weakly. However, when the electron densities are made specific to different types of atomic orbitals, the s electrons have a pronounced effect in all the models tested. This is explained by an indirect effect on the 〈1/r3〉 term of the p electrons. Good correlations are found between the sums of the chemical shifts and the corresponding sums of the substituent charge excesses. The different behaviour of OH and Cl substituents in the additi…
The flesh ethanolic extract of Hylocereus polyrhizus exerts anti-inflammatory effects and prevents murine colitis
2015
IBD is a chronic disorder of the gastrointestinal tract characterized by mucosal inflammation and epithelial damage. Biologic therapy has significantly improved the course of the disease but there are still a high percentage of patients that do not respond to current therapies. We aim to determine the effects of the flesh ethanolic extract of Hylocereus polyrhizus (EH) in a mice model of colitis induced by TNBS.Balb/c mice received TNBS (175 mg/kg, 100 μl, i.r.) and six and thirty hours later were administered with EH (1 g/kg, i.p.). Mice were weighted daily and after sacrificing (2 and 4 days after TNBS) we analyzed mucosal histology, myeloperoxidase activity (MPO), the expression of pro-i…

Analysis of linear alkylbenzene samples with a camera-based equipment
2017
Nestemäisiä tuikeaineita hyödyntävät ilmaisimet ovat saaneet jalansijaa neutriinofysiikassa viime vuosikymmeninä. Perinteisiin Cherenkovin ilmaisimiin niiden etu on suurempi hiukkasten vuorovaikutuksesta aiheutuvan valon tuotto. Lisäksi edullisten, suhteellisen ympäristöystävällisten ja optisesti kirkkaiden tuikeaineyhdisteiden (bentseenin alkyylijohdannaiset) saatavuus mahdollistaa yhä suurempien ilmaisimien rakennuksen. Nestemäisten tuikeaineiden ongelmana on kuitenkin niiden taipumus kerätä epäpuhtauksia itseensä ja niiden muutosalttius UV-säteilyn ja korkeiden lämpötilojen vaikutuksesta. Muutokset heikentävät tuikeaineiden valon tuottoa, ja siksi nestemäisten tuikeaineiden puhdistusta j…
