Microorganisms of food ice cubes and their transfer to drinks

The present work was carried out to investigate the microbiological characteristics of the ice cubes produced at different levels: 1) home-made (HM) from domestic freezers; 2) produced by ice machines in bars and pubs (BP); 3) produced by ice industries (IN). BP samples were collected from the box stocks. HM and BP samples were transferred into sterile stomacher bags. IN samples were provided in the manufacturers’ plastic bags. Samples were transported into thermal insulated boxes. Five samples per each production level, forming a total of 15 samples (HM1-HM5, BP1-BP5, IN1-IN5), were collected in duplicate in two consecutive months. Background & Aims: Obesity-associated inflammation is a key player in the pathogenesis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, the role of macrophage scavenger receptor 1 (MSR1, CD204) remains incompletely understood. Methods: A total of 170 NAFLD liver biopsies were processed for transcriptomic analysis and correlated with clinicopathological features. Šī darba mērķis bija izstrādāt svaigu dārzeņu apstrādes metodi, lai aizsargātu tos pret mikroorganismiem, kuri izraisa augu slimības un ir saistīti ar svaigu dārzeņu kvalitātes pasliktināšanos. Mērķa sasniegšanai izmantoja mikroorganismu spējas inhibēt citu mikroorganismu augšanu (antagonismu). Ir pierādīts, ka pienskābes baktērijām piemīt antagonistiskās spējas. Tāpēc par izpētes objektu bija izvēlētas pienskābes baktērijas, kuras bija izolētas no vietējo ražotāju svaigiem un sālītiem gurķiem. Parenthood and gender inequality : Population-based evidence on the child penalty in Finland

This study presents evidence on the effect of parenthood on labor market outcomes in Finland. We use population-based data drawn from administrative registers and an event study design centered around the birth of the first child using the specification proposed in Kleven et al. (2019b). The study confirms that women encounter large short- and long-term child penalties in gross labor earnings and that penalties are associated with employment participation. Taxes and social security transfers considerably reduce the child penalty, which also varies by the number of children. peerReviewed
