Abstract Introduction Fasting during Ramadan while pregnant has been shown to have long-term negative effects on the offspringʼs physical and cognitive health. Even though most Muslims do not believe pregnant women are obligated to fast during Ramadan, fasting rates of up to 87% have been reported for pregnant women. No data exists to date about Ramadan adherence and behavior in Germany. Methods The Mainz Study of Ramadan and Pregnancy surveyed pregnant Muslims and new Muslim mothers in Mainz between October 2016 and January 2017 and collected information on Ramadan adherence and behavior. Abstract Introduction For patients considering undergoing assisted reproductive techniques (ART), many concerns arise when persistent ovarian cysts are found. This large study aimed to determine how ovarian cyst removal affects success rates of IVF/ICSI therapies. Methods 550 patients who underwent an IVF/ICSI treatment between 2002 and 2011 with a persistent ovarian cyst ≤ 5 cm before treatment were analyzed retrospectively. 328 patientsʼ preference was to undergo a laparoscopic cystectomy and 222 patients opted for a conservative management. Predictors of long-term outcomes in patients undergoing periodontal maintenance

Abstract Aim This retrospective study aimed to characterize the baseline status of patients following periodontal maintenance, analysing the association between the long‐term outcome of these patients, smoking, bruxism, and the main clinical and radiographic variables. Material and methods A sample of 174 patients with moderate to severe periodontitis was refined into homogeneous subsamples according to smoking and bruxism and the rate of tooth loss due to periodontal disease (TLPD): 0, 1–2, and >2 teeth. Caratterizzazione e valorizzazione bio-agronomica di diverse accessioni di aglio in ambiente collinare siciliano

L'aglio coltura "antica" e tipica di molte aree della Sicilia, ha svolto e continua a svolgere un ruolo fondamentale nella storia della tradizione culinaria. La specie viene, inoltre, utilizzata per usi terapeutici e presenta pregevoli caratteristiche nutrizionali. L'ampia disponibilità di popolazioni locali di aglio ha indotto, il Consorzio di ricerca Co.Ri.S.S.I.A. di Palermo ad avviare una ricerca finalizzata alla caratterizzazione e valorizzazione di accessioni di aglio di diversa provenienza. Dall'esperienza condotta è emerso che la specie ha presentato, in generale, una buona adattabilità all'ambiente di prova, riuscendo a fornire produzioni quanti-qualitative soddisfacenti.
