Un diritto di agire in modo penalmente illecito?
2005
Analisi critica della idea che possa esistere un diritto di agire in modo penalmente illecito, e che tale diritto possa, in particolare, localizzarsi nella categoria delle cosiddette cause di giustificazione.
Adjacent vertices can be hard to find by quantum walks
2018
Quantum walks have been useful for designing quantum algorithms that outperform their classical versions for a variety of search problems. Most of the papers, however, consider a search space containing a single marked element. We show that if the search space contains more than one marked element, their placement may drastically affect the performance of the search. More specifically, we study search by quantum walks on general graphs and show a wide class of configurations of marked vertices, for which search by quantum walk needs Ω(N) steps, that is, it has no speed-up over the classical exhaustive search. The demonstrated configurations occur for certain placements of two or more adjace…
Span-Program-Based Quantum Algorithms for Graph Bipartiteness and Connectivity
2016
Span program is a linear-algebraic model of computation which can be used to design quantum algorithms. For any Boolean function there exists a span program that leads to a quantum algorithm with optimal quantum query complexity. In general, finding such span programs is not an easy task. In this work, given a query access to the adjacency matrix of a simple graph G with n vertices, we provide two new span-program-based quantum algorithms:an algorithm for testing if the graph is bipartite that uses $$On\sqrt{n}$$ quantum queries;an algorithm for testing if the graph is connected that uses $$On\sqrt{n}$$ quantum queries.
Optimization procedures for the bipartite unconstrained 0-1 quadratic programming problem
2014
The bipartite unconstrained 0-1 quadratic programming problem (BQP) is a difficult combinatorial problem defined on a complete graph that consists of selecting a subgraph that maximizes the sum of the weights associated with the chosen vertices and the edges that connect them. The problem has appeared under several different names in the literature, including maximum weight induced subgraph, maximum weight biclique, matrix factorization and maximum cut on bipartite graphs. There are only two unpublished works (technical reports) where heuristic approaches are tested on BQP instances. Our goal is to combine straightforward search elements to balance diversification and intensification in bot…
Scalable Ellipsoidal Classification for Bipartite Quantum States
2008
The Separability Problem is approached from the perspective of Ellipsoidal Classification. A Density Operator of dimension N can be represented as a vector in a real vector space of dimension $N^{2}- 1$, whose components are the projections of the matrix onto some selected basis. We suggest a method to test separability, based on successive optimization programs. First, we find the Minimum Volume Covering Ellipsoid that encloses a particular set of properly vectorized bipartite separable states, and then we compute the Euclidean distance of an arbitrary vectorized bipartite Density Operator to this ellipsoid. If the vectorized Density Operator falls inside the ellipsoid, it is regarded as s…
Large-scale network functional interactions during distraction and reappraisal in remitted bipolar and unipolar patients.
2017
Objectives The human brain is organized into large-scale networks that dynamically interact with each other. Extensive evidence has shown characteristic changes in certain large-scale networks during transitions from internally directed to externally directed attention. The aim of the present study was to compare these context-dependent network interactions during emotion regulation and to examine potential alterations in remitted unipolar and bipolar disorder patients. Methods We employed a multi-region generalized psychophysiological interactions analysis to quantify connectivity changes during distraction vs reappraisal pair-wise across 90 regions placed throughout the four networks of i…
Ligand-Based Charge-Transfer Luminescence in Ionic Cyclometalated Iridium(III) Complexes Bearing a Pyrene-Functionalized Bipyridine Ligand: A Joint T…
2012
Two new heteroleptic iridium(III) complexes [Ir(ppy)(2)(pyr(2)bpy)][PF(6)] ([1a][PF(6)]) and [Ir(dfppy)(2)(pyr(2)bpy)][PF(6)] ([2a][PF(6)]), where Hppy = 2-phenylpyridine, Hdfppy = 2-(3,5-difluorophenyl)pyridine, and pyr(2)bpy = 5,5'-bis(pyren-1-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine, have been synthesized and fully characterized. The single-crystal structures of pyr(2)bpy and the complexes 4{[1a][PF(6)]}·2CH(2)Cl(2)·9H(2)O and [2a][PF(6)]·0.25CH(2)Cl(2)·H(2)O have been determined. The effect of the pyrene substituents on the electronic properties is investigated through a comprehensive photophysical and theoretical study on the two complexes in comparison to reference complexes without substituents on the an…
ESPRESSIONE DI VEGF, HSP90 E Bip/GRP78 E RICORRENZA DI CARCINOMA EPATOCELLULARE DOPO TRAPIANTO DI FEGATO
Background and aims Liver transplantation (LT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a satisfactory therapeutic choice in patients with “early HCC” selected according to Milan criteria. However, the risk of HCC recurrence after LT is about 7-10% at five years and markers which can predict recurrence are still lacking. We investigated in HCC samples and LC surrounding tissues the significance of VEGF, HSP90, and Bip/GRP78 expression in patients with HCC who underwent LT in a western transplantation center and their possible role as markers of recurrence. Background and aims Liver transplantation (LT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a satisfactory therapeutic choice in patients with “ea…
The association of depression and all-cause and cause-specific mortality: An umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses
2018
Background Depression is a prevalent and disabling mental disorder that frequently co-occurs with a wide range of chronic conditions. Evidence has suggested that depression could be associated with excess all-cause mortality across different settings and populations, although the causality of these associations remains unclear. Methods We conducted an umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses of observational studies. PubMed, PsycINFO, and Embase electronic databases were searched through January 20, 2018. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses that investigated associations of depression and all-cause and cause-specific mortality were selected for the review. The evidence was g…
