Improving Efficacy of PubMed Clinical Queries for Retrieving Scientifically Strong Studies on Treatment

The authors evaluated the retrieval power of PubMed "Clinical Queries," narrow search string, about therapy in comparison with a modified search string to avoid possible retrieval bias. PubMed search strategy was compared to a slightly modified string that included the Britannic English term "randomised." The authors tested the two strings joined onto each of four terms concerning topics of broad interest: hypertension, hepatitis, diabetes, and heart failure. In particular, precision was computed for not-indexed citations. The added word "randomised" improved total citation retrieval in any case. Nevertheless, the O chain of LPS influences their aggregation in aqueous media. Therefore, our goal has been to determine the role of O chain on the LPS biological and physiopathological effects. The phosphodiesterase inhibitors papaverine, theophylline and 3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine (IBMX) reveal a negative inotropic effect of acetylcholine in cat ventricular heart muscle. This effect in unrelated to beta-adrenoceptor stimulation and possibly mediated by the accumulation of cyclic GMP.

The HVAC submarine interconnection between Italy and Malta came into operation in 2015 and is part of a European programme for transmission grid interconnection improvement. Functional Colonic Ultrasonography: Normal Findings of Colonic Motility and Follow-Up in Neuronal Intestinal Dysplasia

Three types of neuronal intestinal dysplasia (type A, type B, and combination with Hirschsprung’s disease) can be distinguished. Functional assessment of the affected bowel segments can be achieved by functional colonic ultrasonography, thus providing exact parameters for further therapeutical procedure. The technique is described. Ten children with neuronal intestinal dysplasia in whom functional colonic ultrasonography was employed and results of their follow-up examinations are reported.

Early-stage small-bowel adenocarcinoma: a review of local endoscopic therapy.

Early adenocarcinomas in the small intestine are a rare entity. Most adenocarcinomas in the small intestine are diagnosed at a more advanced stage. After surgical resection, only 3 - 10 % are found in stage T1 and 0 - 3 % in stage Tis (high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia), resulting in an overall 3 - 13 % rate of early-stage small-intestinal adenocarcinomas. The diagnosis of early small-intestinal carcinoma by endoscopy is still very rare, although it will probably improve with the development of new endoscopic techniques.
