They incorporate the anti-Citrullinated Protein antibody testing and the other classic criteria in a score system (the diagnosis of definite rheumatoid arthritis is made by a total score ≥6). Detection and characterization of intraorbital foreign bodies (IFB) is fundamental in acute trauma setting, preventing inflammatory sequelae or complications related to IFB movements when a MRI study is planned. Papers concerning plain film and CT sensibility in IFB detection show controversial results. For this reason we investigated plain film, CT and MRI sensibility in the evaluation of IFB. Cellular differentiation and mRNA levels of genes involved in kidney growth were investigated in normal kidney cells, cyst-lining epithelial cells of polycystic kidney disease, and renal carcinoma cells (RCC). All cells comparatively studied exhibited an antigenic phenotype of proximal tubular cells as shown by the expression of a panel of brush border membrane enzymes and kidney-associated cell surface antigens. Haemolytic-uraemic syndrome during severe lupus nephritis: efficacy of plasma exchange

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has been described as a cause of thrombotic microangiopathy, especially thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). Haemolytic-uraemic syndrome (HUS) is less frequent in SLE. We report a case of such an association during an episode of severe lupus nephritis in a young woman, who was successfully treated with steroids, cyclophosphamide and especially plasma exchange with plasma replacement. This report highlights the importance of recognising atypical HUS in SLE patients by looking for schistocytes in case of haemolytic anemia with a negative antiglobulin test, in order to begin plasma exchange.

BACKGROUND Acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (aTTP) is a rare, life-threatening autoimmune thrombotic microangiopathy. Caplacizumab, an anti-von Willebrand Factor Nanobody® , is effective for treating aTTP episodes and is well tolerated. OBJECTIVES AND METHODS In the phase 3 HERCULES trial (NCT02553317), patients with aTTP received double-blind caplacizumab or placebo during daily therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) and for ≥30 days thereafter. The large number of pace-makers introduced transvenously has resulted in increasing the number of complications, amongst which infections and dislocations are prominent. It is usually necessary to remove the electrode, which can be attempted percutaneously by using a Dormia basket, a loop or forceps. Amongst the complications of this procedure are tears to the myocardium, with the risk of pericardial tamponade, or tears of the tricuspid valve leading to tricuspid insufficiency. Consequently, thoracic surgical intervention should be available if necessary. Four successful procedures are described.
