DETECTION OF HIV TYPE 1 (HIV-1) NON-B SUBTYPES IN SICILY, ITALY

To evaluate the presence of HIV-1 non-B subtypes in Sicily, we sequenced and genotyped HIV-1 PR and RT regions of the pol gene using plasma from 169 HIV-1-infected adult patients. All samples were obtained from a study of antiretroviral-associated resistance mutations resulting in virological failure during highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). Eight (4.7%) patients had the non-B HIV-1 subtype including some circulating recombinant forms (CRFs). All of these individuals acquired the infection by heterosexual transmission. Bakalaura darba tēma ir “LGBT+ kopienas jauniešu, kā komunikatoru analīze, komunicējot ar sabiedrību virtuālajā vidē”. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izprast ar kādiem šķēršļiem un problēmām saskaras LGBT+ kopienas jaunieši vecumā no 16 līdz 25 gadiem, komunicējot virtuālajā vidē. Teorētiskajā daļā ir aplūkota kvīru (queer) teorija, LGBT+ kopienas attīstība Latvijā un citviet pasaulē, komunikācija virtuālajā vidē mūsdienu pasaulē. Pētījumā ir izmantotas daļēji strukturētas intervijas un anketēšana. Maģistra darbs “Homoseksualitāte un Adventistu Baznīca: LGBT piederība adventistu kopienā” analizē homoseksuālu adventistu iespējamos iemeslus un motīvus piederēt Adventistu Baznīcai. Darbā ir veikts pētījums uz kvantitatīvo pētījumu metožu pamata, aptaujā piedalījās 406 respondenti. Pētījuma rezultāti ļauj secināt, ka Adventistu Baznīcas doktrīnas un adventistu kultūra ir tās, kuru dēļ ir veidojusies samērā noslēgta kopiena – šis ir noteicošais faktors, kas neļauj viegli atstāt Adventistu Baznīcu. Bakalaura darbā “Sociālās iekļaušanas principi Latvijā un Somijā 2007. un 2017. gadā” autore skata kā homoseksuāli cilvēki integrējas mūsdienu sabiedrībā, kāds ir valsts viedoklis šajā jautājumā un kā sabiedrība pieņem vai nepieņem homoseksuāli orientētus cilvēkus. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt, kāda ir Latvijas un Somijas sabiedrības attieksme pret homoseksualitāti mūsdienās, kas veido šo attieksmi un kas būtu jāuzlabo. Darba rezultātā autore konstatē, ka Latvijas sabiedrības attieksme lielākoties ir pozitīva, cilvēki atzīst, ka sabiedrībai ir jābūt iecietīgākai. Somijas sabiedrība ir vairāk atvērtāka un saprotošāka.

This chapter aims to challenge heterosexual norms in society by analyzing heterosexual families when confronted with the coming out of one of their children. Starting with the essentialist construction of identities and gender norms supported by the symbolic structure of the natural and traditional (straight) family, we reconstruct paths and dynamics of the response that heterosexual parents give to their LGBTQ2 children. Specifically, this contribution outlines the characteristics of the disclosure processes of homosexual children and the related reactions to such shocking and disorienting events of their families.
