Antibacterial activity test and screening of phytochemical of extract hexane, ethyl acetate  and methanol have been carried out. The extraction of the P.pellucida plants was carried out by the maceration method in stages based on the polarity of the solvent. Analysis of chemical compounds done with phytochemical screening test. The innate immunity is more generalized with robust response whereas the other has a highly specific response to infectious pathogens. Controllable membrane remodeling by a modified fragment of the apoptotic protein Bax.

Intrinsic apoptosis is orchestrated by a group of proteins that mediate the coordinated disruption of mitochondrial membranes. Bax is a multi-domain protein that, upon activation, disrupts the integrity of the mitochondrial outer membrane by forming pores. We strategically introduced glutamic acids into a short sequence of the Bax protein that constitutively creates membrane pores. The resulting BaxE5 peptide efficiently permeabilizes membranes at acidic pH, showing low permeabilization at neutral pH. Absorption of kininogen from human plasma by Streptococcus pyogenes is followed by the release of bradykinin.

H-kininogen (high-molecular-mass kininogen, HK) is the precursor of the vasoactive peptide hormone bradykinin (BK). Previous work has demonstrated that HK binds to Streptococcus pyogenesthrough M-proteins, fibrous surface proteins and important virulence factors of these bacteria. Here we find that M-protein-expressing bacteria absorb HK from human plasma. The HK bound to the bacteria was found to be cleaved, and analysis of the degradation pattern suggested that the cleavage of HK at the bacterial surface is associated with the release of BK. Abstract A polysaccharide isolated after mild acid degradation of the lipopolysaccharide of Vibrio vulnificus clinical isolate YJ016 was found to contain l -Fuc, d -GlcpNAc, 2,4-diacetamido-2,4,6-trideoxy- d -glucose (di-N-acetylbacillosamine, d -QuiNAc4NAc), and 2-acetimidoylamino-2-deoxy- l -galacturonic acid ( l -GalNAmA). The last sugar derivative was confirmed by correlations for nitrogen-linked protons in 2D TOCSY and ROESY spectra measured in a H2O–D2O mixture. Endotoxins (lipopolysaccharides, LPS) are the main surface antigens and virulence factors of Gram-negative bacteria involved for example in the development of nosocomial infections and sepsis. They consist of three main regions: O-specific polysaccharide, core oligosaccharide, and lipid A. Bacteria modify LPS structure to escape the immune defence, but also to adapt to environmental conditions. LPS's structures are highly diversified in the O-specific polysaccharide region to evade bactericidal factors of immune system, but retain some common epitopes that are potential candidates for therapeutic strategies against bacterial infections. Influence of Bacteria <i>Pseudomonas fluorescens</i> on the Properties of Latvian Clay

Wide varieties of bacteria are able to produce extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) which are mostly composed of polysaccharides. It is suggested that EPS substances can alter certain clay soil properties due to their ability to adhere to the surface of mineral particles. Most common used microorganisms by the researchers for this purpose are of either genus Bacillus or genus Pseudomonas. In this study growth of bacteria P. fluorescens AM PS11 culture in locally obtained clay is studied for the purpose of establishing their influence on rheological properties of clay. Acid tolerance inLeuconostoc oenos. Isolation and characterization of an acid-resistant mutant

The acid tolerance ofLeuconostoc oenos was examined in cells surviving at pH 2.6, which is lower than the acid limit of growth (about pH 3.0). Acid-adapted cells survived better than non-adapted cells. Tolerance to acid stress was found to be dependent upon the adaptive pH. Acid resistance was increased by an order of magnitude for cultures adapted to a pH of about 2.9. Inhibiting protein synthesis with chloramphenicol prior to acid shock revealed that acid adaptation may involve two separate systems, one of which appears to be independent of protein synthesis. Stereoselective synthesis of the cytotoxic 14-membered macrolide aspergillide A.

A stereoselective synthesis of the cytotoxic 14-membered macrolide aspergillide A has been performed. The preparation of a cis-2,6-disubstituted tetrahydropyran ring via stereoselective reduction of an intermediate cyclic hemiacetal was one key feature of the synthesis. The macrocyclic lactone ring was created by means of a ring-closing metathesis (RCM), whereby the new C=C bond displayed exclusively the undesired Z configuration. Conversion to the required E configuration was achieved via photochemical isomerization.

Photoaffinity cross-linking of F1ATPase from the thermophilic bacterium PS3 by 3′-arylazido-β-alanyl-2-azido ATP

AbstractThe photoactivatable bifunctional 3′-arylazido-β-alanyl-2-azido ATP (2,3′-DiN3ATP) has been applied to study the localization of the nucleotide-binding sites of coupling factor 1 (F1ATPase, TF1) from the thermophilic bacterium PS3 by photoaffinity cross-linking. UV irradiation of TF1 in the presence of 2,3′-DiN3ATP results in the nucleotide-dependent formation of various higher molecular mass cross-links formed by two, three or even four α- and/or β-subunits. The differences observed upon photoaffinity cross-linking by the bifunctional 2-azido ATP or 8-azido ATP analog are discussed.
