In this paper, we extend the basic model describing the for­mation of urban agglomerations in a pre-industrial setting. As we will show, this setting is flexible enough to allow for the investigation of multiple aspects of the spatial economy. After summarizing the basic model and the numerical examples we will refer to, we successively examine the issues of coordination failure in the emergence of the urban phenomenon, the presence of transactions costs and the possibility of diffusion of manu­factured good production through the system of agglomerations. Three models are proposed to offer a better understanding of urban retail location dynamics. Each corresponds to one step in a methodological progression, the presentation of which is the central concern of this paper. The first step consists in modelling the general processes behind urban retail location patterns. The second step identifies the main retail location rules and defines the structure of the third model. Whereas the results of the two first steps are mainly conceptual, the mathematical nature of the last model allows for simulations.

The α-benzylation of a deprotonated bicyclic α-aminonitrile, followed by Noyori's asymmetric transfer hydrogenation combined with the Grewe cyclization onto a symmetrical A-ring precursor, are the key steps of a short and high-yielding enantioselective synthesis of the morphinan (-)-dihydrocodeine. This compound can be converted to (-)-thebaine in high yield by known transformations, while (-)-codeine and (-)-morphine are available from an advanced intermediate.

Augustobona chef-lieu de la cité des Tricasses, puis la ville de Troyes se sont développées en aval de la confluence de la Seine et de la Vienne, un de ses modestes affluents en rive gauche, à l’endroit où le fleuve quitte les terrains argileux de la Champagne humide pour les terrains crayeux de la Champagne sèche. De nombreuses sources historiques et archéologiques montrent que les cours actuels des bras de la Seine et de la Vienne ont considérablement fluctué depuis la fin de la Protohistoire, tant par migration naturelle que sous l’effet de travaux de canalisation ou de dérivation.
