<i>Limonium carvalhoi (Plumbaginaceae)</i>, a new endemic species from the Balearic Islands

ROSSELLO, J.A., L. SAEZ & A.C. CARVALHO (1998). Limonium carvalhoi (Plumbaginaceae), a new endemic species from the Balearic Islands. Anales Jard. Bot. Madrid 56(1): 23-31. Limonium carvalhoi Rossello & L. Saez is described from a single salt marsh locality in southwest Majorca. Morphologically, L. carvalhoi is ciose to L. inexpectans, L. migjornense and L. magallufianum , all Balearic endemics. The new species has an apomictic breeding system and shows a single pollen/stigma combination (B/papillate type). Chromosome number ranges from 2n = 24 to 2n = 26. The Lamarck’s name Buxus balearica is discussed and neotypified from a specimen preserved at MA collected in Mallorca (Balearic Islands, Spain). In addition, the lectotypes of B. longifolia and B. balearica f. granatensis, currently treated as two heterotypic synonyms of B. balearica, are designated from original material preserved at G-BOIS and MA, respectively

[cat] L'article analitza breument l'ampla varietat de conceptes de populisme en la política actual. Aquesta anàlisi intenta mostrar com el populisme ha donat suport als particularismes lingüístics a València i a Mallorca. Aquests particularismes (anomenats blaverisme a València, i gonellisme a Mallorca) no reconeixen la unitat de la comunitat lingüística catalana, i per tant amenacen la recuperació social (normalització) de la llengua catalana.

La lexicografia catalana moderna a les Illes Balears

The works on lexicography published in the Balearic Islands after the completion of the Diccionari Català-Valencià-Balear (1962) are described and analysed in this paper. These works are already fully inserted in the movement for the linguistic recovery undertaken the last twenty years. Especially, but not exclusively, the paper analyses the reflection on those works of the particularity of the Balearic dialect with regard to the Standard language; that is to say, the degree of vindication of the specific forms and words of the insular Catalan tacitly or explicitly accepted in the Standard frame.

The paper investigates the status of the electrical energy sector in the Balearic Islands (Spain). In order to improve the energetic sustainability, this work analysis the availability of renewable energy sources, focusing the attention on sea wave, wind and solar. For the utilization of sea wave source, an innovative device is proposed.
