Women and Sainthood: the Body as an Expression and Manifestation of Divine Gifts. The Case of Blessed Inés of Benigànim
2018
The body and the feminine are highly linked concepts into early modern mentalities. Women are considered to be more determined by their own body, a condition that would make them more imperfect, especially according to the ecclesiastical discourse. However, many religious women could take advantage of this «unavoidable» bond, mainly during the Baroque period, and through the mystical phenomenon. Among these women, we will highlight Blessed Inés of Benigànim, a valencian nun from the 17th century whose case will allow us to analyze corporal, feminine and spiritual bonds through different phenomena such as ecstasies, mortifications or relics.

Trwałe dziedzictwo Angelusa Silesiusa na przykładzie kościelnej pieśni „Jezu, Jezu do mnie przyjdź ”
2015
The literary legacy of Johannes Scheffler - Angelus Silesius (1624-1677), known in Polish as Silesian Angel, is one of the most precious jewels of culture created in Silesia in the 17th century. The poet became famous with a small collection of couplets Cherubinischer Wandersmann (Cherub wanderer), which tries to present the mystical path to God in a speculative way. Silesian Angel tried to show an affective way to God and the collection of poems Heilige Seelen-Lust (Holy joy of the soul) is a meaningful example. This work includes the song Die Psyche sehnt sich nach Jesu alleine (Psyche only longs Jesus). It gives basis for the church song Jesus, Jesus, come to me, which is still popular i…
Le miracle de la nature et de l’art - Palermo barocca nel diario di viaggio di Albert Jouvin de Rochefort
2019
The date of Albert Jouvin de Rochefort’s journey, recounted in his Voyage d’Italie et de Malthe, in 1672, places him among the authors who were at the forefront of the Grand Tour phenomenon, which experienced its golden age between the second half of the 18th century and the first half of the following century. Palermo was the first stop on his journey to Sicily and Jouvin was fascinated by it. The closeness of the author to the baroque aesthetic is widely reflected in Palermo not only in the main monuments of the city, but in the entire urban layout, conceived as a Theatre of the World, in which coexist, in a multitude of monumental and decorative solutions, the fundamental social and cult…

2008
Like most baroque novels, Hinze-Kunze Roman can be read on several levels. First it can be seen as a war of the sexes. On a second level, it can also be read as a Bildungsroman, comparable to all the Aufbauromane written in the fifties. But, on a third level one can also consider Braun's novel as an allegory of East Germany, where each character stands for a specific feature of East German society: Hinze represents the people, Kunze power... And yet another reading also allows one to understand the novel as a narrator-writer's attempt to write a well-executed socialist novel. Finally, one can try to read Hinze-Kunze-Roman as a literary work made up of inter-textual references, or as the jux…
