Prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism in elderly patients with multimorbidity

2013

none 327 si Pharmacological thromboprophylaxis (TP) is known to reduce venous thromboembolism (VTE) in medical inpatients, but the criteria for risk-driven prescription, safety and impact on mortality are still debated. We analyze data on elderly patients with multimorbidities admitted in the year 2010 to the Italian internal medicine wards participating in the REPOSI registry to investigate the rate of TP during the hospital stay, and analyze the factors that are related to its prescription. Multivariate logistic regression, area under the ROC curve and CART analysis were performed to look for independent predictors of TP prescription. Association between TP and VTE, bleeding and death in …

Factors contributing to sex differences in functional outcomes and participation after stroke.

2018

ObjectiveTo examine factors contributing to the sex differences in functional outcomes and participation restriction after stroke.MethodsIndividual participant data on long-term functional outcome or participation restriction (i.e., handicap) were obtained from 11 stroke incidence studies (1993–2014). Multivariable log-binomial regression was used to estimate the female:male relative risk (RR) of poor functional outcome (modified Rankin Scale score >2 or Barthel Index score <20) at 1 year (10 studies, n = 4,852) and 5 years (7 studies, n = 2,226). Multivariable linear regression was used to compare the mean difference (MD) in participation restriction by use of the London Handicap Sca…

Disability, and not diabetes, is a strong predictor of mortality in oldest old patients hospitalized with pneumonia

2018

Abstract Background Pneumonia causes more deaths than any other infectious disease, especially in older patients with multiple chronic diseases. Recent studies identified a low functional status as prognostic factor for mortality in elderly patients with pneumonia while contrasting data are available about the role of diabetes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the in-hospital, 3-month and 1-year mortality in elderly subjects affected by pneumonia enrolled in the RePoSi register. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the data collected on hospitalized elderly patients in the frame of the REPOSI project. We analyzed the socio-demographic, laboratory and clinical characteristics of subjects…

VIAGENS E LEITURAS JAPONESAS EM RAKUSHISHA, DE ADRIANA LISBOA

2014

Abstract: I…

Cine, deporte y propaganda. De "Olympia" al simulacro.

2016

Postfazione a Barthes

2019

There is a very significant passage in this long unpublished interview by Paolo Fabbri with Roland Barthes: if only because it clearly indicates one of the main theoretical opponents of the structural analysis of narrative. It is the moment when Barthes argues that it is necessary to get rid of certain 'false signifiers' of the narrative text, which are then the traditional categories of literary criticism.

Barthes, le récit, la saisie esthétique. Petite relecture du « Sarrasine » de Balzac

2019

Roland Barthes has written a lot about narrative. But can we say that he was really interested in it? that he grasped its profound formal articulation and its anthropological values? who perceived the theoretical interest, beyond literary narrative itself, of its methodological consequence, narrativity? The answers are not as obvious as they may seem. On the one hand, thanks also to his writings, in the paradigm of the humanities - despite the continuous epiphanies of a resurgent positivism - no one doubts that the narrative form is hermeneutic model essential to the general understanding of social and anthropological phenomena. On the other hand, Barthes' attitude towards narrative is far …

Échapper à la surveillance. La paresse comme transgression

2021

We assume that laziness is not an individual subject‘s psychological quality but a reaction against those (that) who (which) confine(s) us in a culture which regards activity as a paramount value, often as an end in itself. Laziness is the transgressive answer to those who force us to act, hence to expose us. Thus, in a surveillance society in which everyone is both the subject and the object of a general regime of visibility, the lazy one not only escapes from the universe of values but also exhibits this escape in subverting the meaning of surveillance which then becomes a tactics for the one who intends to rebel against the power, in modifying the value of values : the implicit belief th…

Nature fotografiche

2021

What does photography mean? This is the question Barthes asks himself He has already worked at length on this medium, indicating hidden meanings and forms of visual rhetoric. hidden meanings and forms of visual rhetoric, discussing the power of this particular type of strength of this particular type of image and the levels of reading it allows, but the project of this book is different. Its object is not "the" photographs, understood as artistic or social phenomena, but "the" photography, its "specific". its "specificity". What does photography mean? This is the question, although never fully explicit, that Floch poses with his Forms of the Imprint,10 in front of five specific images. spec…
