Quelle est la valeur du choix de l’écriture autobiographique dans le parcours littéraire des trois écrivains : Simone de Beauvoir, Nathalie Sarraute et Marguerite Yourcenar ? L’étude des enjeux et des caractéristiques de l’autobiographie féminine au XXe siècle permet de mettre en valeur les ambivalences de l’écriture de soi en tenant compte de l’impact des composantes psychologiques, historiques et sociales dans la détermination de l’écriture autobiographique de la « génération Beauvoir ».

Finnish is one of the few existent Finno-Ugric languages, a language without articles, and with only one, genderless word for the pronouns “she” and “he”. Due to this, the problems faced by the Finnish translators of The Second Sex differed in some ways from those discussed after the publication of the new English translation. This chapter describes the genesis of the second, unabridged Finnish translation, the choices made by the translators as well as the philosophical interpretations motivating those choices. Naurua Medusan tapaan : feministisen ironian ja yhteiskuntakritiikin mahdollisuuksista

Medusa esiintyy antiikin mytologiassa käärmehiuksisena naishirviönä, gorgona, jonka kivettävää katsetta rohkeimmatkin miehet pelkäävät. Medusan myytissä esille tulevaa naiskuvaa on käsitelty sekä taiteentutkimuksessa että filosofiassa. Feministifilosofi ja -kirjailija Hélène Cixous (s. 1937) tekee myytistä ironisen tulkinnan, jossa Medusa nauraa häntä vastaan taistelevien miesten turhalle pelolle.
