Benchmarking of cognitive-behavioral therapy for depression in efficacy and effectiveness studies--how do exclusion criteria affect treatment outcome?
2011
Abstract Objective: Little is known about how exclusion criteria applied in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) affect the transfer of psychotherapy outcome research to naturalistic settings. This study evaluated the effects of naturalistic depression therapies and benchmarked them with published RCTs. Method: Commonly used exclusion criteria were applied to n=338 depressive patients receiving cognitive-behavioral therapy. Outcomes of the resulting subsample eligible for RCTs were compared to those reported in RCTs. Results: Treatment outcomes of the total sample (d=1.16) and the subsample eligible for RCTs (d=1.15) were highly similar. Therapy outcome was worse than in high-quality RCTs (d…

The aim of this study was to assess their outpatient management in relation to current guideline recommenda…
Impact of Extended-Criteria Donor Liver Grafts on Benchmark Metrics of Clinical Outcome After Liver Transplantation: A Single Center Experience.
2020
Abstract Background The adoption of extended criteria for donors remains the best strategy to widen the pool of available liver graft against the chronic shortage of donors. Benchmarking in liver transplantation (LT) offers the unprecedented opportunity to compare clinical outcome measures to a set of validated reference values. We aimed to evaluate the impact of marginal grafts usage in a cohort of low-risk benchmark cases from an area with a very low rate of deceased donation. Methods A cohort of low-risk benchmark cases was identified from all adult patients who underwent LT at our center. Among these patients, those transplanted with a graft from an extended-criteria donor (ECD) were id…
Is the NZEB Benchmarking Approach Suitable for Assessing Energy Retrofit Design?
2013
Currently, many effort have been done to enable energy saving issues in building design and many definitions have been introduced for most performing constructions based on energy balance between energy demand and supply. Recently, the Net Zero Energy Building theory has bypassed old Passive House concept but many questions still remain open. Present work aims to estimate how NZEB requirements matching could be affected by the choice of their definition and the choice of weighting factor system, to be count in the energy balance. NZEB concept is mainly referred to new buildings design. Its application to existing buildings is for sure an hard task provided the architecture and physical cons…
Neural Networks with Multidimensional Cross-Entropy Loss Functions
2019
Deep neural networks have emerged as an effective machine learning tool successfully applied for many tasks, such as misinformation detection, natural language processing, image recognition, machine translation, etc. Neural networks are often applied to binary or multi-class classification problems. In these settings, cross-entropy is used as a loss function for neural network training. In this short note, we propose an extension of the concept of cross-entropy, referred to as multidimensional cross-entropy, and its application as a loss function for classification using neural networks. The presented computational experiments on a benchmark dataset suggest that the proposed approaches may …
Life Cycle Assessment of Asphalt Mixtures with WMR
2023
This study aimed at providing pavement specialists with international average values of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and energy consumption related to the manufacturing of asphalt mixtures (cradle-to-gate), with and without waste and secondary materials for roads (WMRs). In order to achieve this goal, TG leaders first referred to current standards to define a methodology for obtaining benchmark values according to ISO 21678:2020. Then, a data collection tool was designed and provided to a group of international partners to build a life cycle inventory for asphalt mixtures including data from materials up to plant manufacturing (A1–A3). Partners were asked to provide information for any ty…
Traitement de données RGB et Lidar à extrêmement haute résolution: retombées de la compétition de fusion de données 2015 de l'IEEE GRSS - Partie A / …
2016
International audience; In this paper, we discuss the scientific outcomes of the 2015 data fusion contest organized by the Image Analysis and Data Fusion Technical Committee (IADF TC) of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (IEEE GRSS). As for previous years, the IADF TC organized a data fusion contest aiming at fostering new ideas and solutions for multisource studies. The 2015 edition of the contest proposed a multiresolution and multisensorial challenge involving extremely high-resolution RGB images and a three-dimensional (3-D) LiDAR point cloud. The competition was framed in two parallel tracks, considering 2-D and 3-D products, respectively. In this paper, we discuss the sci…
Accessibility of eGovernment Web Sites: Towards a Collaborative Retrofitting Approach
2010
Published version of a chapter from the book: Computers Helping People with Special Needs. The original publication is available at www.springerlink.com: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-14097-6_75 Accessibility benchmarking is efficient to raise awareness and initiate competition. However, traditional benchmarking is of little avail when it comes to removing barriers from eGovernment web sites in practice. Regulations and legal enforcement may be helpful in a long-term perspective. For more rapid progress both vendors and web site maintainers are willing to take short-term action towards improvements, provided that clear advise is available. The approach of the eGovernment Monitoring pro…

Facility layout problem: Bibliometric and benchmarking analysis
2019
Facility layout problem is related to the location of departments in a facility area, with the aim of determining the most effective configuration. Researches based on different approaches have been published in the last six decades and, to prove the effectiveness of the results obtained, several instances have been developed. This paper presents a general overview on the extant literature on facility layout problems in order to identify the main research trends and propose future research questions. Firstly, in order to give the reader an overview of the literature, a bibliometric analysis is presented. Then, a clusterization of the papers referred to the main instances reported in literat…
