Improved Properties of the Big Five Inventory and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale in the Expanded Format Relative to the Likert Format.
2019
Previous research by Zhang and Savalei (2015) proposed an alternative scale format to the Likert scale format: the Expanded format. Scale items in the Expanded format present both positively worded and negatively worded sentences as response options for each scale item; therefore, they were less affected by the acquiescence bias and method effects that often occur in the Likert scale items. The major goal of the current study is to further demonstrate the superiority of the Expanded format to the Likert format across different psychological scales. Specifically, we aim to replicate the findings of Zhang and Savalei and to determine whether order effect exists in the Expanded format scales. …
Resource Allocation for Edge Computing-Based Blockchain: A Game Theoretic Approach
2020
Blockchain has been progressively applied to various Internet of Things (IoT) platforms. As the efficiency of the blockchain depends on its computing capability, how to make sure the acquisition of the computational resources and participation of the devices would be the driving force. In this work, an edge computing-based blockchain network is considered, where the edge service provider (ESP) offers computational resources for the miners. The focus is to investigate an efficient incentive mechanism for the miners to purchase the computational resources. Accordingly, a two-stage Stackelberg game is formulated between the miners and ESP. By exploring the Stackelberg equilibrium of the optima…
Opere dell’Albergheria al Museo Diocesano
2011
Measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry of e(+)e(-)-]z-]b(b)over-bar using prompt leptons and a lifetime tag
1995
The forward-backward asymmetry of the process e+e-→Z→b {Mathematical expression} has been measured using events collected by the DELPHI experiment during the 1991 and 1992 LEP runs. This data sample corresponded to 884 000 hadronic Z decays at a centre-of-mass energy {Mathematical expression}. The tagging of b-quark events was performed using two approaches; the first was based on the semileptonic decay channels b→X+μ and b→X+e, the second used a lifetime tag with jet-charge reconstruction. The results of these two methods were combined to give {Mathematical expression} With the semileptonic sample, the forward-backward asymmetry of the process e+e-→Z→ {Mathematical expression} was also mea…
A Study of the Simulated Evolution of the Spectral Sensitivity of Visual Agent Receptors
2001
In this article we study a model for the evolution of the spectral sensitivity of visual receptors for agents in a continuous virtual environment. The model uses a genetic algorithm (GA) to evolve the agent sensors along with the control of the agents by requiring the agents to solve certain tasks in the simulation environment. The properties of the evolved sensors are analyzed for different scenarios. In particular, it is shown that the GA is able to find a balance between sensor costs and agent performance in such a way that the spectral sensor sensitivity reflects the emission spectrum of the target objects and that the capability of the sensors to evolve can help the agents significantl…
The vertical spectrum of H2CO revisited: (SC)2-CI and CC calculations
2003
The vertical electronic spectrum of formaldehyde has been studied by means of (SC)2-MR-SDCI and CCLR methods. Two basis sets of atomic natural orbitals (ANOs) complemented with a one-centre series of Rydberg orbitals were used. The first was taken from the CASPT2 study by Merchan, M., and Roos, B. O., 1995, Theoret. Chim. Acta, 92, 221, and may be described as C,O[4s3pld]/H[2slp] with a lslpld Rydberg series centred in the charge centroid of the 2B2 state of the cation. The second was a larger basis set that may be described as C,O[6s5p3d2f]/H[4s3p2d] + 3s3p3d in the same centre. The (SC)2 dressing may be applied efficiently to an MR-SDCI method and comparison with the dressed CAS-SDCI is s…

Approximate solutions for two-level optimization problems
1988
This paper is devoted to general results for approximating two-level optimization problems in which the set of solutions to the lower level problem is not a singleton.
Assessment of the insecticidal activity of five essential oils used against the subterranean termite Reticulitermes lucifugus (Rossi) (Blattodea, Rhi…
2023
Among Reticulitermes genus the most abundant species living in Italy is Reticulitermes lucifugus Rossi. This termite is very dangerous to wooden structures of artistic heritage and buildings. The traditional control of R. lucifugus is very difficult resulting in negatively impact on the environment, therefore the use of phytochemical, such as essential oils (EOs), could lead to an alternative to synthetic insecticides, with advantages in reducing environmental risks. In this work we investigated the insecticidal activity of EOs of Citrus bergamia Risso, Syzygium aromaticum L., Foeniculum vulgare Mill., Pelargonium odoratissimum L., and Origanum vulgare L. by inhalation against R. lucifugus …
Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger-state Generation in Qubit-Chains via a Single Landau-Majorana-Stückelberg-Zener π/2-pulse
2022
A protocol for generating Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states in a system of (Formula presented.) coupled qubits is proposed. The Hamiltonian model assumes (Formula presented.) -wise interactions between the (Formula presented.) qubits and the presence of a controllable time-dependent field acting upon one spin only. The dynamical problem is exactly solved thanks to the symmetries of the Hamiltonian model. The possibility of generating GHZ states simulating our physical scenario under both adiabatic and non-adiabatic conditions is within the reach of the experimentalists. This aspect is discussed in detail.
