Abstract We report a case of an endoscopically confirmed biliary leak of the common hepatic duct after laparoscopic cholecystectomy that was prospectively diagnosed on gadoxetate disodium-enhanced magnetic resonance cholangiography. Whereas dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance images during the early vascular phases helped to rule out the causes of possible complications such as seroma, hematoma, or abdominal abscess, delayed hepatobiliary phase imaging was crucial for unequivocal diagnosis and location of the biliary leak. Ileal bile acid-binding protein (I-BABP) is a cytosolic protein that binds bile acid (BA) specifically. In the ileum, it is thought to be implied in their enterohepatic circulation. Because the fecal excretion of BA represents the main physiological way of elimination for cholesterol (CS), the I-BABP gene could have a major function in CS homeostasis. Therefore, the I-BABP gene expression might be controlled by CS. Abstract In this article, a bioinformatics pipeline is proposed that focuses on two types of elements, namely the mobile genetic elements (MGE) and Ribonucleic acids (RNAs). The MGEs are called insertion sequences (ISs) in the prokaryotic domain. The objective of this research work is to study the behaviour of RNAs and MGEs genes, and the effects of their presence around inversions in genome sequences. Prokaryotes harbor a variety of genetic replicators, including plasmids, viruses, and chromosomes, each having different effects on the phenotype of the hosting cell. Here, we propose a classification for replicators of bacteria and archaea on the basis of their horizontal-transfer potential and the type of relationships (mutualistic, symbiotic, commensal, or parasitic) that they have with the host cell vehicle. Sicily currently has no forest areas with certification of sustainable forest management. This work analyzes the possibility of applying the criteria and indicators of PEFC certification of sustainable forest management in two study-cases: the municipal forest of Bivona (AG) and a forest area in the Madonie Mountains (PA). Both are representative of different and important Sicilian forest ecosystems. This analysis highlights the main weaknesses related to current forest management practices and the inadequate consultation with stakeholders.
