Gravitino dark matter and neutrino masses with bilinear R-parity violation

2011

Bilinear R-parity violation provides an attractive origin for neutrino masses and mixings. In such schemes the gravitino is a viable decaying dark matter particle whose R-parity violating decays lead to monochromatic photons with rates accessible to astrophysical observations. We determine the parameter region allowed by gamma-ray line searches, dark matter relic abundance and neutrino oscillation data, obtaining a limit on the gravitino mass $m_{\tilde G} \lsim$ 1-10 GeV corresponding to a relatively low reheat temperature $T_R \lsim$ few $\times 10^7-10^8$ GeV. Neutrino mass and mixing parameters may be reconstructed at accelerator experiments like the Large Hadron Collider.

Probing neutralino properties in minimal supergravity with bilinear R-parity violation

2012

Supersymmetric models with bilinear R-parity violation (BRPV) can account for the observed neutrino masses and mixing parameters indicated by neutrino oscillation data. We consider minimal supergravity versions of BRPV where the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) is a neutralino. This is unstable, with a large enough decay length to be detected at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We analyse the LHC potential to determine the LSP properties, such as mass, lifetime and branching ratios, and discuss their relation to neutrino properties.

Reconstructions that combine interpolation with least squares fitting

2015

We develop a reconstruction that combines interpolation and least squares fitting for point values in the context of multiresolution a la Harten. We study the smoothness properties of the reconstruction as well as its approximation order. We analyze how different adaptive techniques (ENO, SR and WENO) can be used within this reconstruction. We present some numerical examples where we compare the results obtained with the classical interpolation and the interpolation combined with least-squares approximation. Atom-based non-stochastic and stochastic bilinear indices: Application to QSPR/QSAR studies of organic compounds

2008

The recently introduced bilinear indices are applied to the QSAR/QSPR studies of heteroatomic molecules. These novel atom-based molecular fingerprints are used to predict the boiling point of 28 alkyl-alcohols and partition coefficient, specific rate constant and antibacterial activity of 34 2-furylethylenes derivatives. The obtained models are statistically significant and show rather very good stability in a cross-validation experiment. The comparison with other approaches exposes a good behavior of our method in this QSPR studies. The obtained results suggest that with the present method, it is possible to obtain a good estimation of physical, chemical and physicochemical properties for …

Prediction of tyrosinase inhibition activity using atom-based bilinear indices.

2007

A set of novel atom-based molecular fingerprints is proposed based on a bilinear map similar to that defined in linear algebra. These molecular descriptors (MDs) are proposed as a new means of molecular parametrization easily calculated from 2D molecular information. The nonstochastic and stochastic molecular indices match molecular structure provided by molecular topology by using the kth nonstochastic and stochastic graph-theoretical electronic-density matrices, M(k) and S(k), respectively. Thus, the kth nonstochastic and stochastic bilinear indices are calculated using M(k) and S(k) as matrix operators of bilinear transformations. Chemical information is coded by using different pair com…

Genetic Normalized Convolution

2011

Normalized convolution techniques operate on very few samples of a given digital signal and add missing information, trough spatial interpolation. From a practical viewpoint, they make use of data really available and approximate the assumed values of the missing information. The quality of the final result is generally better than that obtained by traditional filling methods as, for example, bilinear or bicubic interpolations. Usually, the position of the samples is assumed to be random and due to transmission errors of the signal. Vice versa, we want to apply normalized convolution to compress data. In this case, we need to arrange a higher density of samples in proximity of zones which c…

Photosynthesis of the red alga Gracilaria chilensis under natural solar radiation in an estuary in southern Chile

2005

The photosynthetic performance and pigment content of Gracilaria chilensis Bird, McLachlan, and Oliveira were measured under natural solar radiation in the Quempillen river estuary (southern Chile) in order to assess the short-term acclimation of this species to the current levels of ultraviolet (UV) radiation during midsummer. The effect of the tidal fluctuation was evaluated in algae exposed for 3 days to two light climates in cages suspended at two depths (0.5 and 1.5 m from the bottom). Responses to high solar radiation at noon were also assessed to gain insights into rapid photochemical kinetics and the degree of photoinhibition. Results indicated that G. chilensis is a shade-adapted s…
