In this study, linear poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and novel linear-hyperbranched, amphiphilic polyglycerol (hbPG) polymers with cholesterol (Ch) as a lipid anchor moiety were radiolabeled with fluorine-18 via copper-catalyzed click chemistry. In vivo investigations via positron emission tomography (PET) and ex vivo biodistribution in mice were conducted. A systematic comparison to the liposomal formulations with and without the polymers with respect to their initial pharmacokinetic properties during the first hour was carried out, revealing remarkable differences. Fine-tuning DNA/albumin polyelectrolyte interactions to produce the efficient transfection agent cBSA-147.

We present the preparation and isolation of different chemically modified BSA species with varying numbers of primary amino groups at the surface. Highly cationic albumin proteins with increased numbers of amino groups were achieved and complex formation with plasmid DNA was carefully investigated. We compare the transfection results, polyelectrolyte complexes morphologies with their impact on complex stabilities, cytotoxicities and DNA accessibility. This knowledge-driven approach led to the identification of the efficient non-viral DNA delivery agent cBSA-147, which showed high transfection efficacies and stability.

Evaluation of the tissue reaction to a new bilayered collagen matrix in vivo and its translation to the clinic.

This study evaluates a new collagen matrix that is designed with a bilayered structure in order to promote guided tissue regeneration and integration within the host tissue. This material induced a mild tissue reaction when assessed in a murine model and was well integrated within the host tissue, persisting in the implantation bed throughout the in vivo study. A more porous layer was rapidly infiltrated by host mesenchymal cells, while a layer designed to be a barrier allowed cell attachment and host tissue integration, but at the same time remained impermeable to invading cells for the first 30 days of the study. We describe the development of an injectable, cell-containing hydrogel that supports cell proliferation and growth to permit in vivo engineering of new tissues. Two thiolated hyaluronan (HA) derivatives were coupled to four alpha,beta-unsaturated ester and amide derivatives of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) 3400. The relative chemical reactivity with cysteine decreased in the order PEG-diacrylate (PEGDA)>>PEG-dimethacrylate>PEG-diacrylamide>PEG-dimethacrylamide. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate transversally the clinical correlation between lower incisor crowding and mandible third molar. Study Design: Three hundred healthy volunteers (134 male and 166 female), aged 20.4 (±2.4) years-old were submitted to a complete clinical examination and filled up a questionnaire about gender, age, total teeth number and presence or absence of superior and inferior third molar. Addition of blood to a phycogenic bone substitute leads to increased in vivo vascularization

Initially, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) of the bone substitute was conducted to analyze its chemical composition.
