In this study the tissue reaction to five different β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP)-based bone substitute materials differing only in size, shape and porosity was analyzed over 60 days, at 3, 10, 15, 30 and 60 days after implantation. Using the subcutaneous implantation model in Wistar rats both the inflammatory response within the implantation bed and the resulting vascularization of the biomaterials were qualitatively and quantitatively assessed by means of standard and special histological staining methods. A hand-held prototype device for detection and processing of the tissue-remitted optical signals has been developed and tested. The photoplethysmography (PPG) principle was applied to follow the dilation and contraction of skin blood vessels during the cardiac cycle. The automated assesment of artery hemodynamic parameters from ultrasound video

The custom designed video processing software for analysis of B-mode and Doppler-mode ultrasound video has been proposed in this work. The software allows adjusting user-defined thresholds and tolerance levels to enhance contour detection in noisy and artifacted ultrasound images. The developed software is able to evaluate 16 hemodynamic parameters (artery diameter, pulse rate and flow velocity related parameters) in each cardiac cycle. The measurements were performed intermittently recording artery diameter (B-mode) and flow velocity (Doppler-mode). Software has validated in femoral artery measurements. Inverse estimation of terminal connections in the cardiac conduction system

Modeling the cardiac conduction system is a challenging problem in the context of computational cardiac electrophysiology. Its ventricular section, the Purkinje system, is responsible for triggering tissue electrical activation at discrete terminal locations, which subsequently spreads throughout the ventricles. In this paper, we present an algorithm that is capable of estimating the location of the Purkinje system triggering points from a set of random measurements on tissue.
