Un lieu de culte monumental gaulois dans le Mercantour : le site de la Cime de la Tournerie (commune de Roubion, Alpes-Maritimes)

2019

International audience; In the Southern Alps, the site of la Cime de La Tournerie, established on a mount peaking at an altitude of 1 816 m, is a monumental place of worship of the early second Iron Age. This site is caracterised by a network of concentric walls and ditches surronding a 500 m2 platform marked out by a monumental wall. Excavations conducted from 2014 to 2017 uncovered weapons, jewelry, remains of banquet, human bones, elements of monumental masonry and a Massaliot monetary storage of the third century BC.

Diversity and composition of the microbiome associated with eggs of the Southern green stinkbug, Nezara viridula (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae).

2022

Although microbial communities of insects from larval to adult stage have been increasingly investigated in recent years, little is still known about the diversity and composition of egg-associated microbiomes. In this study, we used high-throughput amplicon sequencing and quantitative PCR to get a better understanding of the microbiome of insect eggs and how they are established using the Southern green stinkbug Nezara viridula (L.) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) as a study object. First, to determine the bacterial community composition, egg masses from two natural populations in Belgium and Italy were examined. Subsequently, microbial community establishment was assessed by studying stinkbug e…

Settling Down: The Genome of Serratia symbiotica from the Aphid Cinara tujafilina Zooms in on the Process of Accommodation to a Cooperative Intracell…

2014

Particularly interesting cases of mutualistic endosymbioses come from the establishment of co-obligate associations of more than one species of endosymbiotic bacteria. Throughout symbiotic accommodation from a free-living bacterium, passing through a facultative stage and ending as an obligate intracellular one, the symbiont experiences massive genomic losses and phenotypic adjustments. Here, we scrutinized the changes in the coevolution of Serratia symbiotica and Buchnera aphidicola endosymbionts in aphids, paying particular attention to the transformations undergone by S. symbiotica to become an obligate endosymbiont. Although it is already known that S. symbiotica is facultative in Acyrt…

Recent Developments and Formulations for Hydrophobic Modification of Carrageenan Bionanocomposites

2023

Versatility of the anionic algal polysaccharide carrageenan has long been discussed and explored, especially for their affinity towards water molecules. While this feature is advantageous in certain applications such as water remediation, wound healing, etc., the usefulness of this biopolymer is extremely limited when it comes to applications such as food packaging. Scientists around the globe are carrying out research works on venturing diverse methods to integrate hydrophobic nature into these polysaccharides without compromising their other functionalities. Considering these foregoing studies, this review is designed to have an in-depth understanding of diverse methods and techniques ado…

PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF POLYLACTIC ACID/SILICA AND POLYLACTIC ACID/CLAYS BIONANOCOMPOSITE ELECTROSPUN SYSTEMS

2019

Introduction Electrospinning is a versatile process technology for the production of fibers ranging from nano- to micro-scale. In order to develop high performance electrospun systems, the use of nanofillers is achieving more and more interest. In this context, silica (Si) and clays (Cl) are often used as fillers due to the possibility to combine the advantages of polymeric materials, such as light weight and flexibility, and inorganic materials, such as high mechanical strength, heat stability, and chemical stability. In this work, the morphology of PLA/Si and PLA/Cl were evaluated on two different weight ratios: 99/1 and 95/5 wt/wt. Material and Methods The nanoparticles were added to a s…

Massive presence of insertion sequences in the genome of SOPE, the primary endosymbiont of the rice weevil Sitophilus oryzae

2008

Bacteria that establish an obligate intracellular relationship with eukaryotic hosts undergo an evolutionary genomic reductive process. Recent studies have shown an increase in the number of mobile elements in the first stage of the adaptive process towards intracellular life, although these elements are absent in ancient endosymbionts. Here, the genome of SOPE, the obligate mutualistic endosymbiont of rice weevils, was used as a model to analyze the initial events that occur after symbiotic integration. During the first phases of the SOPE genome project, four different types of insertion sequence (IS) elements, belonging to well-characterized IS families from γ-proteobacteria, were identif…

Built environments and inherited landscapes: culture, signs and bionimetic models of the resilient city / Ambienti costruiti e paesaggi ereditati: cu…

2018
