COLON MICROBIAL COMPOSITION IS CORRELATED WITH THE SEVERITY OF COLITIS INDUCED BY 2,4,6-TRINITROBENZESULFONIC ACID IN MICE.

2016

The objective of this study was to evaluate the changes in some bacterial species of colonic microbiota, the clinical signs and the intestinal changes in mice with 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS) induced colitis. CD-1 male mice were randomly divided into three groups and inoculated intrarectally with saline ethanol or TNBS solutions. ethanol and TNBS treatments induced weight loss accompained by mild and severe inflammation of the colon mucosa, respectively. however, TNBS-treated mice displayed significant differences compared to the saline group in terms of disease activity index and histological scoring. Both ethanol and TNBS groups showed an increased prevalence of escherichia …

THE FINGERPRINT OF THE HUMAN GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT MICROBIOTA: A HYPOTHESIS OF MOLECULAR MAPPING

2017

The precise etiology of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IDB) remains unclear and several factors are believed to play a role in its development and progression, including the composition of microbial communities resident in the gastrointestinal tract. Human intestinal microbiota are extensive with at least 15,000-36,000 bacterial species. However, thanks to the new development in sequencing and molecular taxonomic methodologies, our understanding of the microbiota population composition, dynamics, and ecology has greatly increased. Intestinal microbiota play a critical role in the maintenance of the host intestinal barrier homeostasis, while dysbiosis, which involves reduction in the microbiome…

THE IMPORTANCE OF INTESTINAL MICROBIAL FLORA (MICROBIOTA) AND ROLE OF DIET

2017

In this article we want to analyze the function of the intestinal microbial flora. In the intestinal environment microorganism "good" microrganisms coexist with "bad". The coexistence between good and bad bacteria is balanced by a mutual action of contrast that has the purpose of maintaining the intestinal microbiota flora in a state of equilibrium. This condition is referred eubiosis. This article will attempt to analyze the beneficial role carried out by eubiotic microbial flora showing the negative effects of dysbiosis.

TARGETED THERAPIES FOR INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASES AND COLORECTAL CANCER: AN INCREASING NEED FOR MICROBIOTA-INTESTINAL MUTUALISM

2015

The involvement of intestinal microbiota and dysbiosis in the pathogenesis for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colorectal cancer (CRC) is a well-established factto be taken into real consideration when developing targeted therapies. This review aims to depict how advances in our understanding of the role of intestinal flora in the pathogenesis of IBD and CRC are shaping up the therapeutic protocols of their management. It is demonstrated of their management. It is demostrated that there is a circadian regulation of colocyte gene expression in response to microbiota. Dysbiosis leading to a decrease in microbiome biodiversity is also described in IBD patients in IBD patients whereby thic…

LA MALATTIA DIVERTICOLARE

2013

INTESTINAL DYSBIOSIS AND HORMONAL NEUROENDOCRINE SECRETION IN THE FIBROMYALGIC PATIENT: RELATIONSHIP AND CORRELATIONS

2018

Fibromyalgia is a rheumatic syndrome and its pathogenesis is controversial. The recent literature has placed considerable attention on the link between alteration of the intestinal microbiota and fibromyalgia, emphasizing the close connection between the neuroenteric system and the CNS. This study aims to evaluate the probable relationship between intestinal dysbiosis and altered secretion of hormones and vitamins such as cortisol, serotonin, Vitamin D and thyroid hormones in a patient with fibromyalgia.

Prey community structure affects how predators select for Müllerian mimicry

2012

Müllerian mimicry describes the close resemblance between aposematic prey species; it is thought to be beneficial because sharing a warning signal decreases the mortality caused by sampling by inexperienced predators learning to avoid the signal. It has been hypothesized that selection for mimicry is strongest in multi-species prey communities where predators are more prone to misidentify the prey than in simple communities. In this study, wild great tits ( Parus major ) foraged from either simple (few prey appearances) or complex (several prey appearances) artificial prey communities where a specific model prey was always present. Owing to slower learning, the model did suffer higher mort…

Digitalized bioeconomy: Planned obsolescence-driven circular economy enabled by Co-Evolutionary coupling

2019

Driven by digital solutions, the bioeconomy is taking major steps forward in recent years toward achievement of the long-lasting goal of transition from a traditional fossil economy to a bioeconomy-based circular economy. The coupling of digitalization and bioeconomy is leading towards a digitalized bioeconomy that can satisfy the shift in consumers’ preferences for eco-consciousness, which in turn induces coupling of up-down stream operation in the value chain. Thus, the co-evolution of the coupling of digitalization and bioeconomy and of upstream and downstream operations is transforming the forest-based bioeconomy into a digital platform industry. Aiming at addressing this transformation…
