It is quite well-known the dependence of Cremona’s idea from the works of Magnus, much less known, however, and cited mostly second-hand, it seems to be the connection between the birth of birational transformations and Schiaparelli’s article of 1862. Just as are little known considerations on the history of the quadratic transformations appeared in the correspondence Cremona-Hirst. Therefore the aim of this work is to trace the origins of birational transformations making use also of the correspondence with Hirst and Schiaparelli.
US-Elastography for Breast Lesion Characterization: Prospective Comparison of US BIRADS, Strain Elastography and Shear wave Elastography

To evaluate the diagnostic performance of strain elastography (SE) and 2 D shear wave elastography (SWE) and SE/SWE combination in comparison with conventional multiparametric ultrasound (US) with respect to improving BI-RADS classification results and differentiating benign and malignant breast lesions using a qualitative and quantitative assessment. In this prospective study, 130 histologically proven breast masses were evaluated with baseline US, color Doppler ultrasound (CDUS), SE and SWE (Toshiba Aplio 500 with a 7-15 MHz wide-band linear transducer). Automorphisms of $mathbb{A}^{1}$-fibered affine surfaces

We develop technics of birational geometry to study automorphisms of affine surfaces admitting many distinct rational fibrations, with a particular focus on the interactions between automorphisms and these fibrations. In particular, we associate to each surface S of this type a graph encoding equivalence classes of rational fibrations from which it is possible to decide for instance if the automorphism group of S is generated by automorphisms preserving these fibrations.

Algebraic models of the real affine plane

We introduce a new invariant, the real (logarithmic)-Kodaira dimension, that allows to distinguish smooth real algebraic surfaces up to birational diffeomorphism. As an application, we construct infinite families of smooth rational real algebraic surfaces with trivial homology groups, whose real loci are diffeomorphic to $\mathbb{R}^2$, but which are pairwise not birationally diffeomorphic. There are thus infinitely many non-trivial models of the real affine plane, contrary to the compact case.
