Temperature Sensor Based on Colloidal Quantum Dots PMMA Nanocomposite Waveguides

In this paper, integrated temperature sensors based on active nanocomposite planar waveguides are presented. The nanocomposites consist of cadmium selenide (CdSe) and cadmium telluride (CdTe) quantum dots (QDs) embedded in a polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) matrix. When the samples are heated in a temperature range from 25$^{circ}{rm C}$ to 50 $^{circ}{rm C}$, the waveguided photoluminescence of QDs suffers from a strong intensity decrease, which is approximately quadratic dependent on temperature. Moreover, the wavelength peak of the waveguided emission spectrum of CdTe-PMMA shows a blue shift of 0.25 ${rm nm}/^{circ}{rm C}$, whereas it remains constant in the case of CdSe-PMMA. A temperature…

Figure 1 shows firstly an increase of the motional resistance during the first scan of the transformation process, denoting an increase of the viscoelasticity of this structure. Soluble Prussian Blue have a localized changeover in the properties of these films just when Fe(III) fraction reaches the characteristic value. Secondly, this Figure shows an increase of motional resistance in zone 2 of the voltammetric scan, proving more evident for the last cycles than for the first ones. Vibrational modes and strain in GaN/AlN quantum dot stacks: dependence on spacer thickness

We have investigated the influence of spacer thickness on the vibrational and strain characteristics of GaN/AlN quantum dot multilayers (QD). The Raman shift corresponding to the E2h vibrational mode related to the QDs has been analyzed for AlN thicknesses ranging from 4.4 nm to 13 nm, while the amount of GaN deposited in each layer remained constant from sample to sample. It is shown that there is a rapid blue shift of the GaN vibrational mode with spacer thickness when its value is smaller than 7 nm while it remains almost constant for thicker spacers. Optimized blue light generation in optically contacted walk-off compensated RbTiOAsO4 and KTiOP1−yAsyO4

Abstract We study type II 1.32 μm second harmonic generation (SHG) in a RbTiOAsO 4 optically contacted walk-off compensated device. The reduction of the effective walk-off angle by a factor of 3.7 with respect to KTiOPO 4 for the same interaction leads to an enhancement by a factor of 10 of the conversion efficiency. A model is proposed for both type I and type II SHG in such a structure. The angular tuning curve is a multi-peaked one, as predicted by the model. The enhancement of the SHG conversion efficiency allows us to optimize the generation of blue laser light at 440 nm: a specially designed KTiOP 0.98 As 0.02 O 4 solid solution crystal achieves angular non-critical phase matching at …
Tailoring magnetic properties of electrodeposited thin films of the molecule-based magnet Cr5.5(CN)12 11.5H2O

This paper reports on molecular-based magnetic thin films of Prussian blue analogues (PBA) with high critical temperatures composed of mixed-valence chromium cyanides. The thin films of PBA were synthesized by means of electrodeposition technique. Morphology and magnetic study are presented in a function of electrochemical deposition conditions. We present the electrochemical methods as a promising and effective tool for preparing molecular-based magnetic thin films of Prussian blue analogue.

Characterization of used mineral oil condition by spectroscopic techniques

Optical absorption, fluorescence, and quantitative 13C NMR spectroscopy have been used to study the degradation of mineral gearbox oil. Samples of used oil were collected from field service. Measured absorption, fluorescence, and quantitative 13C NMR spectra of used oils show characteristic changes from the spectra of a fresh oil sample. A clearly observable, approximately 20-nm blueshift of the fluorescence emission occurs during the early stages of oil use and correlates with changes in intensity of some specific 13C NMR resonance lines. Tuning of High-Order Harmonics for Soft X-Ray Laser Seeding

Within this work we present results of an experimental campaign studying the influence of the adiabatic and non-adiabatic blue shift on high-order harmonic (HH) radiation spectra. The results demonstrate that we are able to spectrally tune the HH radiation to cover more than 50% of the spectrum between 17 nm and 35 nm, paving the way to performing injection-seeded soft X-ray laser (SXRL) experiments with Mo, Zr and Y.

Background: Examination of surface-bound heparin on synthetic polymers can only be performed by few staining methods. These methods are limited by an only approximate detection of heparin visible at high magnification. Other methods only measure heparin quantitatively (per square dimension) and are rather sensitive to artifacts. This paper presents the first evidence of the use of Maya Blue pigment in late pre-classic (c.300BC-300AD) architecture in the Maya Lowlands. This was detected combining an innovative technique, the voltammetry of microparticles (VMP), with atomic force microscopy (AFM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (SEM/EDX), visible spectrophotometry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The pigment was found on the polychrome facade of substructure IIC of pre-Columbian city of Calakmul (Campeche, Mexico).
