A Novel Digital Technique for Measuring the Accuracy of an Indirect Bonding Technique Using Fixed Buccal Multibracket Appliances

The aim of this study was to analyze the accuracy and predictability of the indirect bonding technique of fixed buccal multibracket appliances using a customized iterative closest point algorithm. Materials and Methods: A total of 340 fixed buccal multibracket appliances were virtually planned and bonded on 34 experimental anatomically based acrylic resin models by using orthodontic templates designed and manufactured to indirectly bond the fixed buccal multibracket appliances. Oxygen isotopic exchange: A useful tool for characterizing oxygen conducting oxides

International audience; The 18O/16O isotope exchange depth profile technique (IEDP) followed by SIMS characterizations was applied to dense membranes of pure ionic conductors and mixed ionic/electronic conducting materials. It is a very useful tool since we obtain in both cases data concerning the oxygen diffusion in the bulk and the oxygen exchange at the surface of the materials. Comparisons were done, including results concerning the role of the surface with regards to the oxygen reduction reaction. Detailed experimental and analytical processes are given.

It subsequently surveys the known classes of stable open-shell hydride complexes. The chapter also reveals the fundamental properties of the M–H bond in open-shell compounds and finally examines the various established decomposition modes. The Specific Role of Childhood Abuse, Parental Bonding, and Family Functioning in Female Adolescents With Borderline Personality Disorder.

This study examined a broad variety of adverse childhood experiences in a consecutive sample of female adolescent inpatients with borderline personality disorder (BPD; n = 44) compared with a clinical control (CC; n = 47) group with mixed psychiatric diagnoses. BPD was diagnosed using a structured clinical interview; different dimensions of childhood adversity were assessed using the Childhood Experiences of Care and Abuse Questionnaire, the Parental Bonding Instrument, and the Family Assessment Device. Passive Transport of Ionic Drugs through Membranes with pH-Dependent Fixed Charges

We have studied both theoretically and experimentally the passive transport of ionic drugs through membranes with pH-dependent fixed charge. The system considered constitutes a simplified model for pH-controlled drug delivery through membranes of biochemical and pharmaceutical interest. The theoretical approach employed is based on the Nernst-Planck flux equations and all of the species present in the system (the neutral or ionic drug and the hydrogen and hydroxide ions) have been taken into account together with a Langmuir-type isotherm for the adsorption of the ionic drug onto the membrane surface. Quantitative characterization of the global electrophilicity power of common diene/dienophile pairs in Diels–Alder reactions

Abstract The global electrophilicity power, ω, of a series of dienes and dienophiles commonly used in Diels–Alder reactions may be conveniently classified within a unique relative scale. Useful information about the polarity of transition state structures expected for a given reaction may be obtained from the difference in the global electrophilicity power, Δω, of the diene/dienophile interacting pair. Thus the polarity of the process can be related with non-polar (Δω small, pericyclic processes) and polar (Δω big, ionic processes) mechanisms.

Dielectric response of α-LiIO3 acid type crystals

Abstract α-LiIO 3 is often used as non-linear optical material. In view of its preparation, low pH aqueous solutions are used as mother solutions, which give crystals with some hydrogen incorporated to the lattice. Thus, dielectric characterization appears as a very important tool. In this work, the dielectric properties of acid type α-LiIO 3 crystals (conductivity, permittivity, loss-angle tangent) are investigated as functions of temperature and frequency, through an original method allowing seemingly continuous measurements and avoiding space charge contributions to the measurements.
