During immunodeficiency after sublethal haematoablative treatment, cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection interferes with haematopoietic reconstitution and can cause lethal bone marrow (BM) aplasia. The in vivo model of murine CMV infection has identified the BM stroma as the principal target site of CMV in the haematopoietic cord. The infected cell type is the reticular stromal cell which forms the stromal network and produces essential haemopoietins, such as stem-cell factor (SCF). The expression of SCF was found to be reduced in the infected stroma, but the stromal network was not disrupted and the number of infected stromal cells was too low to explain the functional deficiency. Abstract nterleukin-8 (IL-8) is produced by many cell types upon stimulation with bacterial products or inflammation-associated cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha and IL-1. Interferons (IFNs) represent another group of cytokines that are induced by similar stimuli in inflammatory reactions. We show now that type-I IFNs are potent inhibitors of IL-8 expression in vitro and in vivo. The use of 3D models of the human bone system has great utility in the biomechanical study, due to the fact that these structures cannot be analyzed or tested in vivo. Within this paper, taking into consideration its real bone structure, the human femur CAD modelling is established. Firstly, a preliminary anatomical study is done, in order to highlight the fact that the thigh bone is a heterogeneous structure, consisting of several entities with different mechanical characteristics. Isolated osteoblastoma of the cuboid bone: A case report and review of the literature

Osteoblastoma is a relatively rare, benign, bone-forming tumor, commonly observed in the second and third decades of life. Spine and the long tubular bones are the most common sites of involvement. Osteoblastoma is infrequently seen in other sites, including the bones of hand and foot. A rare case of a 35-year-old man that presented an osteoblastoma of the cuboid bone is reported. The patient was treated with surgical resection and grafting. After the intervention, the patient recovered with no clinical and radiological evidence of recurrence after one year of follow-up.
