The effects of book exposure and reading interest on oral language skills of children with and without a familial risk of dyslexia

The potential role of home literacy environment (HLE) in children's language development has been widely studied. However, data on the HLE of children with familial risk (FR) of dyslexia are limited. In this longitudinal study, we examined (a) whether amount of book exposure and reading interest at age 4 were different in samples of Norwegian FR and no FR‐children, respectively, (b) whether these home literacy‐related factors exerted different effects depending on family‐risk status on vocabulary and grammar skills at school entry age (6 years) and (c) whether they contributed independently to language outcomes at age 6, after controlling for the 4;6‐year language skills. Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää oppimaan oppimisen näkyminen yläkoulun englannin kielen oppikirjoissa. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin, miten ja missä yhteyksissä oppimaan oppiminen tuli esille ja mitä kielitaidon osa-alueita painotettiin. En este estudio cuantitativo de carácter descriptivo se investigan las creencias de 31 estudiantes de la especialidad de Música del Máster de Profesor de Educación Secundaria de la Universitat de València, sus expectativas al cursar este tipo de formación, su valoración de la distribución de los créditos de las asignaturas que lo conforman y diferencias en base al género. Los resultados presentan sus consideraciones para realizar este Máster, su opinión sobre la función docente, la metodología y contenidos que desarrollarán en futuras clases, las expectativas y la valoración de los créditos de las asignaturas del Máster, entre otros.

Currently favoured views for explaining ornaments in males emphasize female preference such that females benefit from increased offspring production, good genes of the offspring, or the attractiveness of sons. Results from long-term studies in the pied flycatcher Ficedula hypoleuca suggest that factors associated with species recognition may also be important for male coloration. In sympatry the collared flycatcher F. albicollis is dominant in competition for nesting sites over the pied flycatcher. In the ancient medical literature hydrocephalus was not often described although its existence and symptomatology were well known. Most detailed descriptions of hydrocephalus including the surgical treatment are extant in the encyclopaedic works on medicine of the physicians Oreibasios and Aetios from Amida from the 4th and 6th centuries AD, respectively. Because of their broad scientific interests, this type of physicians, typical for the late Roman empire, were known as philosophy-physicians (iota alpha tau rho o sigma o phi iota sigma tau alpha iota). The aim of the article is to present the image of local government in the his-tory of Poland in the 20th century, in terms of the latest school history textbooks. For the purpose of the analysis, eight studies have been selected, which since September 2012 have been taught in Polish secondary schools. The image of the title issue emerging from the analysis indicates that the marginal treatment of the role and signifi cance of local government in relation to the period of the Second Republic of Poland is clearly visible.
