Background Many studies have elaborated different kind of activity indices for Crohn's Disesase (CD) with the endpoint of univocally measure and evaluate the gravity of its lesions and symptoms. Circadian rhythm in the torque developed by elbow flexors during isometric contraction. Effect of sampling schedules.

Time-dependent changes in elbow flexion torque have been documented according to two different sampling schedules. Seven physical education students took part in the first series of experiments, and 7 other similar subjects in the second. In both sets of experiments, the subjects performed isometric contractions: maximal and submaximal at 90 degrees in the first experiments and maximal at different angular positions in the second. After a 30-minute rest period, the torque developed was measured at 00:00, 06:00, 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00, and 21:00 h on the day of the experiment. Small intestine bacterial overgrowth and irritable bowel syndrome-related symptoms: Experience with Rifaximin

AIM: To estimate the prevalence of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) in our geographical area (Western Sicily, Italy) by means of an observational study, and to gather information on the use of locally active, non-absorbable antibiotics for treatment of SIBO. Multi-channel electromyography during maximal isometric and dynamic contractions.

Motor unit behavior differs between contraction types at submaximal contraction levels, however is challenging to study during maximal voluntary contractions (MVCs). With multi-channel surface electromyography (sEMG), mean physiological characteristics of the active motor units can be extracted. Two 8-electrode sEMG arrays were attached on biceps brachii muscle (one on each head) to examine behavior of sEMG variables during isometric, eccentric and concentric MVCs of elbow flexors in 36 volunteers. Simple endoscopic decompression of cubital tunnel syndrome with the Agee system: anatomic study and first clinical results.

BACKGROUND Simple decompression in ulnar nerve compression syndromes offers options for endoscopic applications. OBJECTIVE The authors present their initial experience with the Agee device. PATIENTS AND METHODS The monoportal endoscopic technique (Agee system) was evaluated on 10 cadaveric arms. Subsequently, 32 arms of 29 patients were operated on between January 2006 and March 2009. All patients presented with typical clinical signs and neurophysiologic studies. Long-term follow-up examinations were obtained in 27 of 32 arms.
