In this research we investigate whether there is a relationship between the ethical behaviour of insurance brokers and their operating performance. Specifically, we focus on the practice of deferring the premiums charged to clients in order to invest them in short–term financial products and, as a result, gain an additional financial return to their traditional sources of income. We consider this practice to be an unethical behaviour since uninformed clients, that is, those who are not aware of the legal process of brokerage, expect the broker to immediately process the policy with the insurance company once the premium has been paid. This paper is presented the concept of developing a generic reference architecture model for the specification, development, control and reconfiguration of a manufacturing enterprise at a work cell level. It is described a generic system architecture for FMS; there is also briefly explained how to configure the different resource modules that actually control the tasks of the physical device and put together a work cell consisting of other FMS resources. Using the principles of distributed object technology there could be implemented each resource in the work cell as a distributed object. Finally, an example on building a FMS using a hierarchical approach is presented.

A CORBA based architecture for distributed embedded systems using the RTLinux-GPL platform

This paper describes an architecture for distributed computing on the RTLinux-GPL(GPL version of RTLinux, hereafter RTLinux) platform. The proposed architecture implements the CORBA (common object request broker architecture) model of computation, more specifically the minimum CORBA specification for embedded systems, and also provide the extensions for real-time computing. Since RTLinux lacks networking capabilities, the architecture implements all the required functionality in a layered fashion: network drivers, TCP/IP stack and an ORB (object request broker). Trading activity and price impact in parallel markets: SETS vs. off-book market at the London Stock Exchange

We empirically study the trading activity in the electronic on-book segment and in the dealership off-book segment of the London Stock Exchange, investigating separately the trading of active market members and of other market participants which are non-members.
