tBuLi-Mediated One-Pot Direct Highly Selective Cross-Coupling of Two Distinct Aryl Bromides.

A Pd-catalyzed direct cross-coupling of two distinct aryl bromides mediated by tBuLi is described. The use of [Pd-PEPPSI-IPr] or [Pd-PEPPSI-IPent] as catalyst allows for the efficient one-pot synthesis of unsymmetrical biaryls at room temperature. The key for this selective cross-coupling is the use of an ortho-substituted bromide that undergoes lithium-halogen exchange preferentially.

Synthesis of new melatoninergic hexahydroindenopyridines

Hexahydroindenopyridine (HHIP) is an interesting heterocyclic framework that contains an indene core similar to ramelteon. This type of tricyclic piperidines aroused our interest as potential melatoninergic ligands. Melatonin receptor ligands have applications in insomnia and depression. We report herein an efficient two-step method to prepare new HHIP by the reaction of an enamine with 3-bromopropylamine hydrobromide. Some synthesized compounds showed moderate affinity for melatonin receptors in the nanomolar or low micromolar range. Furthermore, the methylenedioxy HHIPs 2d (N-phenylacetamide) and 2f (N,N-diethylacetamide), exhibited high selectivity at MT1 or MT2 receptors, respectively, …

Synthesis and characterization of mononuclear complexes containing 3-acetylamino-1,2,4-triazole (aat). X-ray structure of [Co(aat)2(H2O)2]Br2

Abstract The spectroscopic characteristics of the isostructural compounds [M(aat) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]X 2 (aat = 3-acetylamino-1,2,4-triazole; M = Co, Cu, X = Br, CI; M = Ni, X = Cl) are described. The structure of [Co(aat) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]Br 2 has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods. Crystals are monoclinic, space group P 2 1 / a with a = 9.686(3), b = 14.433(4), c = 6.169(2) A, β = 92.84(2)° and Z = 2. The structure was refined to final R and R ′ values of 0.033 and 0.039 for 1066 observed reflections. Geminal Imidazolium Salts: A new Class of Gelators

The gelling behavior of some geminal diimidazolium salts was investigated in solvents differing in polarity and hydrogen bond donor ability. Oxadiazolyl-Pyridinium as Cationic Scaffold for Fluorinated Ionic Liquid Crystals

The synthesis and characterization of a new class of 1,2,4-oxadiazolylpyridinium as a cationic scaffold for fluorinated ionic liquid crystals is herein described. A series of 12 fluorinated heterocyclic salts based on a 1,2,4-oxadiazole moiety, connected through its C(5) or C(3) to an N-alkylpyridinium unit and a perfluoroheptyl chain, differing in the length of the alkyl chain and counterions, has been synthesized. Synthesis, thermal properties and X-ray structural study of weak C–H⋯OC hydrogen bonding in aliphatic polyester dendrimers

Dendritic polyester compounds based on polyol with three, four and six reactive hydroxy groups as a molecular core, chloroacetyl chloride (or bromoacetyl bromide) and sodium metal enolate were prepared by a simple two-step synthetic procedure. The compounds were characterised by using the NMR and MS techniques, and the thermal properties were measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).
