The mediating role of feelings of guilt in the relationship between burnout and the consumption of tobacco and alcohol

2014

Earlier studies have shown that feelings of guilt appear to be involved in the burnout process. However, the exact nature of the relationship between burnout, feelings of guilt, and tobacco and alcohol use is unclear. The purpose of this study was to analyze the role of feelings of guilt in the relationship between burnout and the consumption of tobacco and alcohol. Role conflict, Role clarity, and Feedback were included as predictors of burnout. The sample of this cross-sectional study consisted of 260 Chilean administration and customer service workers. Hypotheses were tested using a path model. The hypothesized model (i.e., Indolence to guilt to tobacco/alcohol use) showed an adequate da…

Why Is My Job So Stressful? Characteristics, Processes and Models of Stress at Work

2017

This chapter deals with the issue of job stress in relation to employee health, well‐being and performance. The chapter starts with an outline of job stress as a societal problem, illustrating current trends in society, the nature of work, and job stress. It continues with a discussion of the main perspectives on job stress, including bad and good stress, and of the potential role of individual differences in the job stress process. Next, an integrative process model of job stress is presented that will pave the way for a profound discussion of four prominent theoretical models on job stress: (1) the Demand‐Control‐Support Model, (2) the Effort‐Reward Imbalance Model, (3) the Job‐Demands Re…

Factors mediating the psychological well-being of healthcare workers responding to global pandemics: A systematic review

2020

The worldwide outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the likelihood of future pandemics has raised the attention to the effects of pandemics on the psychological well-being of individuals. Given their indispensable role in such situations, healthcare workers are at greater risk of mental health issues. This paper aimed to review the mediators of psychological well-being among healthcare workers responding to global pandemics. After registration on PROSPERO, a systematic review was performed in four databases. Following study selection (PRISMA guidelines), inclusion criteria and analysis methods were assessed. The quality of the included studies was assessed using the EPHPP criteri…

Palliative Care Professionals' Inner Life: Exploring the Relationships Among Awareness, Self-Care, and Compassion Satisfaction and Fatigue, Burnout, …

2015

Context. Professionals working in the landscape of death and dying frequently are exposed to existential issues, psychological challenges, and emotional distress associated with care at the end of life. Identifying factors that help professionals cope with frequent exposure to issues related to mortality could enhance palliative care providers' and patients' quality of life. Objectives. To improve our understanding of the factors associated with professionals' inner life, through the assessment of an adapted version of Kearney and Kearney's awareness model of self-care. The main assumptions of the study were that competence in coping with death and awareness would be positively related to c…

Izdegšanas sindroma saistība ar stresa pārvarēšanas stratēģijām medicīnas māsām

2019

Neurotic generation of Covid-19 in Eastern Europe

2021

This article presents the results of a research survey, which shows the relationship between neuroticism and the coronavirus pandemic, which was performed among students in Poland and Ukraine. The survey was conducted online, on a sample of 1,978 respondents in Poland and 411 in Ukraine. The results indicated that average and high levels of neuroticism were observed among 61% of respondents in Poland and 47% in Ukraine. Regression analysis revealed that the main factors correlated with the level of neuroticism were educational burnout, gender, financial situation, interest in the pandemic, and satisfaction with life. As indicated by the respondents, neuroticism increases with educational bu…

<title>Correlation effects in the disordered ferroelectrics</title>

2003

ABSTRACT The calculation of the correlation radius distribution function is performed for the cases of undamped and overdamped softmode dispersion laws. Taking into account the correlation radius dependence on the random field and this field distribution function we carried out the theoretical calculation of the correlation radius distribution function dependence ontemperature, damping coefficient and random field distribution function parameters. It was shown that at temperaturehigher than Burns temperature Td the most probable value of the correlation radius is equal to its maximal valueindependently on the system disorder, while in the dipole glass state it is close to the minimal value …

Latvijas teritorijā sastopamās Q-drudža ierosinātājas baktērijas Coxiella burnetii genotipu noteikšana slaucamo govju saimniecībās

2020

Coxiella burnetii ir obligāta intracelulāra Coxiellaceae dzimtas baktērija, kas spēj izraisīt Q drudža slimību. Izplatīta visā pasaulē, iekļauta obligāti ziņojamo slimību sarakstā 25 Eiropas Savienības dalībvalstīs. Darba mērķis ir noteikt Latvijas teritorijā sastopamās Q-drudža ierosinātājas baktērijas Coxiella burnetii genotipus un to izplatību slaucamo govju saimniecībās. Maģistra darbs izstrādāts projekta “Zoonozes Q-drudža ietekme uz slaucamo govju reprodukciju un risinājumi slimības sastopamības samazināšanai un dzīvnieku ilgtspējīgai izmantošanai” ietvaros, Pārtikas drošības, dzīvnieku veselības un vides zinātniskajā institūtā “BIOR”. Darba ietvaros veikts visaptverošs projektā iegūt…
