Comparison of physical activity levels in Spanish adults with chronic conditions before and during COVID-19 quarantine

2020

Abstract Background This is the first study analyzing levels of physical activity in a sample of quarantined adults with chronic conditions. The aim of this study was to compare moderate- and vigorous-intensity physical activity levels in Spanish adults with chronic conditions before and during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) quarantine. Methods A cross-sectional online survey was administered during the COVID-19 quarantine in Spain. A total of 163 participants with chronic conditions (113 females and 47 males; age range 18–64 years) completed the survey. A total of 26 chronic conditions were included. Participants self-reported average minutes/day of moderate and vigorous physical acti…

Stakeholders? views on online interventions to prevent common mental health disorders in adults implemented into existing healthcare systems in Europe

2021

Abstract Background Online preventive interventions can help to reduce the incidence of mental disorders. Whereas knowledge on stakeholders’ attitudes and factors relevant for successfully integrating online treatment into existing healthcare systems is available, knowledge is scarce for online prevention. Methods Stakeholders from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Spain were surveyed. Potential facilitators/delivery staff (e.g. psychologists, psychotherapists) completed an online questionnaire (n = 183), policy makers (i.e. from the governing sector or health insurance providers) participated in semi-structured interviews (n = 16) and target groups/potential users of mental illness prevent…

ERBB2 Induces an Antiapoptotic Expression Pattern of Bcl-2 Family Members in Node-Negative Breast Cancer

2010

AbstractPurpose: Members of the Bcl-2 family act as master regulators of mitochondrial homeostasis and apoptosis. We analyzed whether ERBB2 influences the prognosis of breast cancer by influencing the proapoptotic versus antiapoptotic balance of Bcl-2 family members.Experimental Design: ERBB2-regulated Bcl-2 family members were identified by inducible expression of ERBB2 in MCF-7 breast cancer cells and by correlation analysis with ERBB2 expression in breast carcinomas. The prognostic relevance of ERBB2-regulated and all additional Bcl-2 family members was determined in 782 patients with untreated node-negative breast cancer. The biological relevance of ERBB2-induced inhibition of apoptosis…

Genome-wide association analyses identify 18 new loci associated with serum urate concentrations

2013

Elevated serum urate concentrations can cause gout, a prevalent and painful inflammatory arthritis. By combining data from >140,000 individuals of European ancestry within the Global Urate Genetics Consortium (GUGC), we identified and replicated 28 genome-wide significant loci in association with serum urate concentrations (18 new regions in or near TRIM46, INHBB, SFMBT1, TMEM171, VEGFA, BAZ1B, PRKAG2, STC1, HNF4G, A1CF, ATXN2, UBE2Q2, IGF1R, NFAT5, MAF, HLF, ACVR1B-ACVRL1 and B3GNT4). Associations for many of the loci were of similar magnitude in individuals of non-European ancestry. We further characterized these loci for associations with gout, transcript expression and the fractional…

Depression Assessment by Fusing High and Low Level Features from Audio, Video, and Text

2016

International audience; Depression is a major cause of disability world-wide. The present paper reports on the results of our participation to the depression sub-challenge of the sixth Audio/Visual Emotion Challenge (AVEC 2016), which was designed to compare feature modalities ( audio, visual, interview transcript-based) in gender-based and gender-independent modes using a variety of classification algorithms. In our approach, both high and low level features were assessed in each modality. Audio features were extracted from the low-level descriptors provided by the challenge organizers. Several visual features were extracted and assessed including dynamic characteristics of facial elements…

Hacia la convergencia de las estadísticas de las finanzas públicas y la contabilidad pública en Europa a nivel central y local

2018

[EN] The main aim of this paper is to study the convergence between micro and macro systems of government accounting information, looking to contribute to the analysis of accounting harmonization process in the EU, as a tool to improve the comparability of financial, budgetary, and aggregated statistical reports, in order to improve social, political and economic decision-making and accountability. All this is obviously located in the current context of the EU, with a high degree of harmonization of accounting standards between the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), and those applied for the preparation of national accounts, ruled by European System of National and Re…

Tourism recovery amid COVID-19: The case of Lombardy, Italy

2021

Travel restrictions and social distancing imposed to curb the spread of the new coronavirus have been strongly hitting tourism since March 2020. Tourism forecasting literature addressed the effects of shocks in contexts characterized by a predictable route to recovery. COVID-19 is without precedents. In this article, monthly overnight stays for the period January 2010 to December 2020 are used to estimate the impact of the pandemic in Lombardy, Italy’s most affected region. A model-based approach is implemented, and the number of overnight stays up to December 2023 is forecasted. Four models are compared. Estimation results from an augmented SARIMA model suggest that, provided a new lockdo…

Contents of Physical Education through the Images of PrimaryEducation Textbooks

2014

A Comprehensive Utility Function for Resource Allocation in Mobile Edge Computing

2020

In mobile edge computing (MEC), one of the important challenges is how much resources of which mobile edge server (MES) should be allocated to which user equipment (UE). The existing resource allocation schemes only consider CPU as the requested resource and assume utility for MESs as either a random variable or dependent on the requested CPU only. This paper presents a novel comprehensive utility function for resource allocation in MEC. The utility function considers the heterogeneous nature of applications that a UE offloads to MES. The proposed utility function considers all important parameters, including CPU, RAM, hard disk space, required time, and distance, to calculate a more realis…

Removable singularities for div v=f in weighted Lebesgue spaces

2018

International audience; Let $w\in L^1_{loc}(\R^n)$ be apositive weight. Assuming that a doubling condition and an $L^1$ Poincar\'e inequality on balls for the measure $w(x)dx$, as well as a growth condition on $w$, we prove that the compact subsets of $\R^n$ which are removable for the distributional divergence in $L^{\infty}_{1/w}$ are exactly those with vanishing weighted Hausdorff measure. We also give such a characterization for $L^p_{1/w}$, $1<p<+\infty$, in terms of capacity. This generalizes results due to Phuc and Torres, Silhavy and the first author.
