Hadronic light-by-light contribution to $(g-2)_\mu$ from lattice QCD with SU(3) flavor symmetry
2020
We perform a lattice QCD calculation of the hadronic light-by-light contribution to $(g-2)_\mu$ at the SU(3) flavor-symmetric point $m_\pi=m_K\simeq 420\,$MeV. The representation used is based on coordinate-space perturbation theory, with all QED elements of the relevant Feynman diagrams implemented in continuum, infinite Euclidean space. As a consequence, the effect of using finite lattices to evaluate the QCD four-point function of the electromagnetic current is exponentially suppressed. Thanks to the SU(3)-flavor symmetry, only two topologies of diagrams contribute, the fully connected and the leading disconnected. We show the equivalence in the continuum limit of two methods of computin…
Songs Perceived as Relaxing : Musical Features, Lyrics, and Contributing Mechanisms
2020
How we listen to music has been changing rapidly in the last years, with online streaming becoming more predominant. Besides the gain in accessibility for the listeners, the growth of online services also affords easier access to data for musical analyses. A growing body of research has been showing that daily life music listening serves varied functions, from affect regulation to social bonding. More specifically, the reduction of stress responses is quite pertinent in the contemporary world, and recent studies have high-lighted the importance of adequate musical choices. This study aimed to identify the characteristics of music that individuals perceive as favorable to relax and to compar…
Meme marketing: How marketers can drive better engagement using viral memes?
2022
Scholars and industry stakeholders have exhibited an interest in identifying the underlying dimensions of viral memes. However, the recipe for creating a viral meme remains obscure. This study makes a phenomenological contribution by examining viral memes, exploring the antecedents (i.e., content-related factors, customer-related factors, and media-related factors), consequences, and moderating factors using a mixed-method approach. The study presents a holistic framework for creating viral memes based on the perceptions of customers and industry stakeholders. Four quantitative studies (i.e., a lab experiment, an online quasi-experiment, an event study, and a brand recall study) validate th…

Excess electronic recoil events in XENON1T
2020
We report results from searches for new physics with low-energy electronic recoil data recorded with the XENON1T detector. With an exposure of 0.65 t-y and an unprecedentedly low background rate of $76\pm2$ events/(t y keV) between 1 and 30 keV, the data enables sensitive searches for solar axions, an enhanced neutrino magnetic moment, and bosonic dark matter. An excess over known backgrounds is observed at low energies and most prominent between 2 and 3 keV. The solar axion model has a 3.4$\sigma$ significance, and a 3D 90% confidence surface is reported for axion couplings to electrons, photons, and nucleons. This surface is inscribed in the cuboid defined by $g_{ae}<3.8 \times 10^{-12}$,…
Voldemar Langenfeld's list of Malus Mill. herbaria
2023
Veicot ābeļu ģints (Malus Mill.) sistemātiku, tās morfoloģijas, evolūcijas un filoģenēzes pētniecību, profesors Voldemārs Langenfelds (1923 – 2007) ir izveidojis vairāk kā 600 lapu lielu ābeļu herbāriju. Herbāriji ievākti laikā no 1956. līdz 1969. gadam Latvijā un ārpus tās robežām. 1990. gadu beigās zinātnieks šo herbāriju nodeva Latvijas Universitātes Muzejam un tie glabājas Botānikas un mikoloģijas kolekcijās. Lielākā daļa (407) ir iekļauti kolekcijā Herbarium Latvicum (RIG II), pārējie – Herbarium Generale, 29 herbāriji atrodas ārpus minētajām kolekcijām. Šajos sarakstos sniegti dati par visiem V. Langenfelda ābeļu herbārijiem, kas glabājas LU Muzejā.
