THE HOMOLOGY OF DIGRAPHS AS A GENERALIZATION OF HOCHSCHILD HOMOLOGY

2010

J. Przytycki has established a connection between the Hochschild homology of an algebra $A$ and the chromatic graph homology of a polygon graph with coefficients in $A$. In general the chromatic graph homology is not defined in the case where the coefficient ring is a non-commutative algebra. In this paper we define a new homology theory for directed graphs which takes coefficients in an arbitrary $A-A$ bimodule, for $A$ possibly non-commutative, which on polygons agrees with Hochschild homology through a range of dimensions.

Quasi-isometrically embedded subgroups of braid and diffeomorphism groups

2005

We show that a large class of right-angled Artin groups (in particular, those with planar complementary defining graph) can be embedded quasi-isometrically in pure braid groups and in the group of area preserving diffeomorphisms of the disk fixing the boundary (with respect to the $L^2$-norm metric); this extends results of Benaim and Gambaudo who gave quasi-isometric embeddings of $F\_n$ and $\Z^n$ for all $n>0$. As a consequence we are also able to embed a variety of Gromov hyperbolic groups quasi-isometrically in pure braid groups and in the diffeomorphism group of the disk. Examples include hyperbolic surface groups, some HNN-extensions of these along cyclic subgroups and the fundame…

Conjugate and cut loci of a two-sphere of revolution with application to optimal control

2008

Abstract The objective of this article is to present a sharp result to determine when the cut locus for a class of metrics on a two-sphere of revolution is reduced to a single branch. This work is motivated by optimal control problems in space and quantum dynamics and gives global optimal results in orbital transfer and for Lindblad equations in quantum control.

On some Riemannian aspects of two and three-body controlled problems

2009

The flow of the Kepler problem (motion of two mutually attracting bodies) is known to be geodesic after the work of Moser [20], extended by Belbruno and Osipov [2, 21]: Trajectories are reparameterizations of minimum length curves for some Riemannian metric. This is not true anymore in the case of the three-body problem, and there are topological obstructions as observed by McCord et al. [19]. The controlled formulations of these two problems are considered so as to model the motion of a spacecraft within the influence of one or two planets. The averaged flow of the (energy minimum) controlled Kepler problem with two controls is shown to remain geodesic. The same holds true in the case of o…

Characterization of the Clarke regularity of subanalytic sets

2017

International audience; In this note, we will show that for a closed subanalytic subset $A \subset \mathbb{R}^n$, the Clarke tangential regularity of $A$ at $x_0 \in A$ is equivalent to the coincidence of the Clarke's tangent cone to $A$ at $x_0$ with the set \\$$\mathcal{L}(A, x_0):= \bigg\{\dot{c}_+(0) \in \mathbb{R}^n: \, c:[0,1]\longrightarrow A\;\;\mbox{\it is Lipschitz}, \, c(0)=x_0\bigg\}.$$Where $\dot{c}_+(0)$ denotes the right-strict derivative of $c$ at $0$. The results obtained are used to show that the Clarke regularity of the epigraph of a function may be characterized by a new formula of the Clarke subdifferential of that function.

One-parameter family of Clairaut-Liouville metrics

2007

Riemannian metrics with singularities are considered on the $2$-sphere of revolution. The analysis of such singularities is motivated by examples stemming from mechanics and related to projections of higher dimensional (regular) sub-Riemannian distributions. An unfolding of the metrics in the form of an homotopy from the canonical metric on $\SS^2$ is defined which allows to analyze the singular case as a limit of standard Riemannian ones. A bifurcation of the conjugate locus for points on the singularity is finally exhibited.

Topological Hopf algebras, quantum groups and deformation quantization

2003

After a presentation of the context and a brief reminder of deformation quantization, we indicate how the introduction of natural topological vector space topologies on Hopf algebras associated with Poisson Lie groups, Lie bialgebras and their doubles explains their dualities and provides a comprehensive framework. Relations with deformation quantization and applications to the deformation quantization of symmetric spaces are described

Research and implementation of artificial neural networks models for high velocity oxygen fuel thermal spraying

2020

In the high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) spray process, the coating properties are sensitive to the characteristics of in-flight particles, which are mainly determined by the process parameters. Due to the complex chemical and thermodynamic reactions during the deposition procedure, obtaining a comprehensive multi-physical model or analytical analysis of the HVOF process is still a challenging issue. This study proposes to develop a robust methodology via artificial neural networks (ANN) to solve this problem for the HVOF sprayed NiCr-Cr3C2 coatings under different operating parameters.First, 40 sets of HVOF spray experiments were conducted and the coating properties were tested for analysis…

On List Coloring with Separation of the Complete Graph and Set System Intersections

2022

We consider the following list coloring with separation problem: Given a graph $G$ and integers $a,b$, find the largest integer $c$ such that for any list assignment $L$ of $G$ with $|L(v)|= a$ for any vertex $v$ and $|L(u)\cap L(v)|\le c$ for any edge $uv$ of $G$, there exists an assignment $\varphi$ of sets of integers to the vertices of $G$ such that $\varphi(u)\subset L(u)$ and $|\varphi(v)|=b$ for any vertex $u$ and $\varphi(u)\cap \varphi(v)=\emptyset$ for any edge $uv$. Such a value of $c$ is called the separation number of $(G,a,b)$. Using a special partition of a set of lists for which we obtain an improved version of Poincar\'e's crible, we determine the separation number of the c…
