Determination of procaine and tetracaine in plasma samples by micellar liquid chromatography and direct injection of sample

A liquid chromatographic procedure is proposed for the determination of procaine and tetracaine in plasma samples with direct injection. The method uses a Spherisorb octadecylsilane ODS-2 C18 analytical column and a micellar mobile phase containing 0.15 M sodium dodecyl sulphate, 0.5% triethylamine at pH 2.5 and 10% propanol. The UV detection was carried out at 300 nm. Plasma sample preparation required only adequate dilution with the mobile phase before injection into the chromatographic system. The proposed method allows the determination of procaine and tetracaine in plasma at therapeutic levels.

Abstract 1 The effects of 4-(m-chlorophenylcarbamoyloxy)-2-butynyltrimethylammonium chloride (McN-A-343) and N-benzyl-3-pyrrolidyl acetate methobromide (AHR 602) on cardiac performance and noradrenaline release from terminal sympathetic fibres were measured in isolated perfused hearts of rabbits. 2 In the presence of sufficient atropine to block muscarinic receptors, high concentrations of McN-A-343 and AHR 602 caused no cardiac stimulation and there was no increase in the resting output of noradrenaline into the perfusates. 3 McN-A-343 and AHR 602 increased both the mechanical responses and the transmitter overflow evoked by electrical stimulation of the sympathetic nerves (SNS) but inhibi…

Ce projet de recherche se fonde sur une étude typologique et archéométrique des matériaux d’époque romaine-impériale collectés pendant les prospections, surtout les céramiques africaines importées en Sicile entre la fin du Ier et le VIIe siècle apr. J.C. On ne va pas se concentrer sur une seule classe de céramique mais on va analyser globalement tous les objets manufacturés (amphores, sigillées, vaisselles culinaires, communes, lampes) en adoptant une approche diachronique correspondant à l’entière période de circulation de ces céramiques. Neocortical areas are organized in columns, which form the basic structural and functional modules of intracortical information processing. Using voltage-sensitive dye imaging and simultaneous multi-channel extracellular recordings in the barrel cortex of newborn rats in vivo, we found that spontaneously occurring and whisker stimulation-induced gamma bursts followed by longer lasting spindle bursts were topographically organized in functional cortical columns already at the day of birth. Prepulse inhibition (PPI) of the startle reflex is a measure of sensory-motor synchronization. A deficit in PPI has been observed in psychiatric patients, especially those with schizophrenia and vulnerable subjects, since the neural bases of this disorder are also involved in the regulation of PPI. Recently, we have reported that baseline PPI levels in mice can predict their sensitivity to the conditioned reinforcing effects of cocaine in the conditioned place preference (CPP) paradigm.
