A placebo-controlled, double-blind, randomized, cross-over study was performed in 24 healthy volunteers. 12 volunteers received Cloricromene (100mg gastroresistant capsules twice a day) for 7 days, the other volunteers received identical placebo capsules. AIM: The aim of this study is to assess, retrospectively, the incidence of secondary hypoparathyroidism after total thyroidectomy in patients with retrosternal goitre. MATERIAL AND METHODS: From January 2009 to September 2015, 622 patients who undergone total thyroidectomy for goitre, were retrospectively observed. The patients were divided into two group: Group A, including 58 patients with retrosternal goitre and Group B, including 562 patients with in situ goitre. The effects of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) on force of contraction (FC), action potential (AP) and calcium current (ICa) were studied in human right atrial and left ventricular heart muscle. 5-HT exerted a concentration-dependent increase in FC in multicellular atrial preparations; the EC50 was approximately 3 x 10(-7) mol/l. Maximal increases in FC (252 +/- 58% of control values; mean +/- SEM, n = 6) were obtained at 5-HT 10(-5) mol/l. At this concentration, ICa was increased four- to sevenfold in enzymatically isolated atrial myocytes. A skin biopsy of a 37 year old man with typical lesions of pseudoxanthoma clasticum (P.E.) associated with angioid streaks (Groenblad-Strandberg Syndrom) was examined with a scanning E. M. (SEM) and a SEM provided with a X ray micro-analyser. The SEM provided with X ray microanalyser enabled us to see the correspondence between the crystalline deposits and a calcium salt. The potassium, sodium and magnesium analysis of the specimen permits us to verify that the P.E. dermis is rich in K and poor in Mg.

We evaluated leukocyte rheology, expressed as leukocyte filtration, polymorphonuclear (PMN) membrane fluidity and cytosolic Ca<sup>2+</sup> concentration in subjects with acute deep venous leg thrombosis (DVT). We studied the effects of vasopressin on the adrenergic responses of in vitro preparations of circular muscle from the vas deferens obtained from 28 men undergoing elective vasectomy. Vasopressin (3 x 10(-9)-3 x 10(-8) M) enhanced the phasic contractions elicited by electrical field stimulation and noradrenaline. This potentiation was blocked by the vasopressin V1 receptor antagonist d(CH2)5Tyr(Me)vasopressin (10(-6) M) but not by the vasopressin V2 receptor antagonist [d(CH2)5, D-Ile2,Ile4,Arg8]vasopressin (10(-6) M).
