Background Huanglongbing (HLB) disease is still the greatest threat to citriculture worldwide. Although there is not any resistance source in the Citrus germplasm, a certain level of moderated tolerance is present. A large-scale analysis of proteomic responses of Citrus may help: 1) clarifying physiological and molecular effects of disease progression, 2) validating previous data at transcriptomic level, and 3) identifying biomarkers for development of early diagnostics, short-term therapeutics and long-term genetic resistance. Experimental studies find a strong influence of nonverbal signals on the evaluation of political candidates when raters are asked to judge unknown candidates from short-duration exposures. Yet when viewers are exposed to candidates’ verbal and nonverbal communication in a more naturally occurring context, the presence of verbal communication can make the influence of nonverbal communication seem attenuated. Molecular Identification of Yeasts Associated with Traditional Egyptian Dairy Products

This study aimed to examine the diversity and ecology of yeasts associated with traditional Egyptian dairy products employing molecular techniques in yeast identification. A total of 120 samples of fresh and stored Domiati cheese, kariesh cheese, and "Matared" cream were collected from local markets and examined. Forty yeast isolates were cultured from these samples and identified using the restriction-fragment length polymorphism (RFLPs) of 5.8S-ITS rDNA region and sequencing of the domains D1 and D2 of the 26S rRNA gene. Quantitative analysis of opsonophagocytosis and of killing of Candida albicans by human peripheral blood leukocytes by using flow cytometry

We describe a simple, rapid, automated procedure for measuring opsonophagocytosis and killing of Candida albicans by human peripheral blood leukocytes. Yeast cells are labelled by allowing uptake and cleavage of membrane-permeable bis-carboxyethyl-carboxyfluorescein pentaacetoxymethylester to its membrane-impermeable fluorescent derivative bis-carboxyethyl-carboxyfluorescein. The yeast cells are added to cell-rich plasma obtained after dextran sedimentation of erythrocytes. Peri-implant parameters in head and neck reconstruction: influence of extraoral skin or intraoral mucosa.

Objective: This study is designed to assess dental implants supporting overdentures in edentulous patients with operated head and neck malignancies using parameters to detect peri-implant disease. Material and methods: Thirty-four implants supporting overdentures in 34 oral cancer patients were examined. Cloning of a cDNA fragment encoding part of the protein moiety of the 58-kDa fibrinogen-binding mannoprotein of Candida albicans

Immunoscreening of a Candida albicans expression library with antibodies against the 58 kDa fibrinogen-binding mannoprotein (mp58) of the fungus resulted in the isolation of clones encoding the protein moiety of this molecule. Sequence of the 0.9 kb cDNA of one of the clones selected for further analysis, revealed an open reading frame coding for 292 amino acids, which displays sequence similarity to proteins belonging to a family of immunodominant antigens of Aspergillus spp. The gene corresponding to this cDNA was named FBP1 (fibrinogen-binding protein). These results represent the first report on the identification of C. albicans genes encoding surface receptors for host proteins.

Molecular cloning and characterization of aCandida albicansgene (EFB1) coding for the elongation factor EF-1β

A Candida albicans gene homologous to Saccharomyces cerevisiae elongation factor 1 beta was isolated by screening a genomic DNA library using a C. albicans cDNA as a probe. This cDNA was previously obtained by immunoscreening of an expression library with polyclonal antibodies raised against candidal cell wall components. Sequence analysis of the cDNA and the whole C. albicans gene (EMBL accession number X96517) revealed an intron-interrupted open reading frame of 639 base pairs that encodes a 213 amino acid protein.
