L'articolo propone una nuova interpretazione del rapporto fra brevità testuale e aspetto teleologico delle biografie, compiendo un percorso storico-letterario dalle "Vite parallele" di Plutarco fino alle reinterpretazioni novecentesche del genere biografico. The article proposes a new interpretation of the relationship between textual brevity and the teleological aspect of biographies, following a historical-literary path from Plutarch's "Parallel Lives" to the twentieth-century reinterpretations of the biographical genre.
Use of Medaka Fish as Vertebrate Model to Study the Effect of Cocoa Polyphenols in the Resistance to Oxidative Stress and Life Span Extension.

Oxidative stress (OS) can induce cell apoptosis and thus plays an important role in aging. Antioxidant foods protect tissues from OS and contribute to a healthier lifestyle. In this study, we described the used of medaka embryos (Oryzias latipes) to study the putative antioxidant capacity of dietary cocoa extract in vertebrates. A polyphenol-enriched cocoa extract regulated the expression of several genes implicated in OS, thereby protecting fish embryos from induced OS. The cocoa extract activated superoxide dismutase enzyme activity in embryos and adult fish tissues, suggesting a common mechanism for protection during embryonic development and adulthood. En este artículo se pretende estudiar la influencia que ejerce el área metropolitana de Valencia (AMV) sobre el espacio contiguo occidental (las comarcas del Camp de Turia y la Hoya de Buñol-Chiva) en un aspecto determinado: la explotación de los recursos geológicos de este espacio. Para ello el estudio se centrara en primer lugar en las condiciones litológicas del área en cuestión. Seguidamente, definiremos la evolución de este sector desde finales del siglo XVIII. Abstract The present study has exploited the rapidity of the analysis and the multi-elemental capability of the energy dispersive X- ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) technique for the mineral profile determination in cocoa powder. A fast, cheap and environmental sustainable method without reagent consumption or toxic waste generation has been proposed. The samples can be prepared in the form of pellets of 13 mm in diameter and 2–3 mm thickness. Insults ir viens no biežāk sastopamajiem mirstības un invaliditātes cēloņiem pasaulē. Lielākā daļa (līdz pat 90%) insulta gadījumu ir išēmiska rakstura. Išēmiska insulta jeb cerebrāla infarkta (CI) pirmās stundās, dienās, nedēļās bojājuma radītās smadzeņu audu hipoksijas un hipoperfūzijas rezultātā bojājuma skartajā smadzeņu puslodē ir stimulēti angioģenēzes un neiroģenēzes procesi, tomēr trūkst datu par to, kā mainās šo procesu norise ilgtermiņā – vairākus mēnešus pēc CI.
