Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor (PNET) of the kidney: a case report.

Abstract Background A case of Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor (PNET) of the kidney in a 27-year-old woman is presented. Few cases are reported in the literature with a variable, nonspecific presentation and an aggressive behaviour. In our case, a radical nephrectomy with lymphadenectomy was performed and there was no residual or recurrent tumour at 24-month follow-up. Methods The surgical specimens were formalin-fixed and paraffin embedded. The sections were stained with routinary H&E. Immunohistochemistry was performed. Atypical Pleomorphic Extraosseous Ewing Tumor/Peripheral Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor with Unusual Phenotypic/Genotypic Profile

A pleomorphic undifferentiated tumor primarily located in the retroperitoneum with a phenotype compatible with an extraosseous Ewing tumor/peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumor (ET/pPNET) pattern and unusual molecular features is described. Immunohistochemically, HBA-71 (CD99/mic2) and several neural markers were intensively expressed together with scattered cells expressing carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). CD99 Immunoreactivity in Atypical Fibroxanthoma

Atypical fibroxanthoma (AFX), a pleomorphic superficial cutaneous tumor of low-grade malignancy, shares many morphologic features with malignant melanoma (MM) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Absence of S-100, keratin, and desmin immunoreactivity is the clue for this diagnosis. In a search for positive markers, we tested 26 cases of AFX with 2 antibodies: O13 (CD99) and protein gene product 9.5 (PGP9.5). We also included 10 cases of poorly differentiated SCC and 10 cases of MM in the study. AbstractProgrammed cell death (or apoptosis) is a physiological process essential to the normal development and homeostatic maintenance of the immune system. The Fas/Apo-1 receptor plays a crucial role in the regulation of apoptosis, as demonstrated by lymphoproliferation in MRL-lpr/lpr mice and by the recently described autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome (ALPS) in humans, both of which are due to mutations in the Fas gene. Unusual Neuroendocrine Differentiation in a Small Round Cell Angiosarcoma: A Potential Histologic Mimicker of Superficial Ewing Sarcoma.

Neuroendocrine differentiation or aberrant expression of neuroendocrine markers is very uncommon in angiosarcomas (AS) and creates a challenging differential diagnosis with other superficial or soft tissue tumors. Herein, we report a new case of superficial AS presenting as a tumor lesion on the little finger of the right hand of a 52-year-old man. The tumor displayed CD56, chromogranin-A, and synaptophysin immunoreactivity. Nanodaļiņas tiek uzskatītas par potenciālām transporta molekulām, kuras varētu nogādāt pretvēža zāles tieši uz audzēju šūnām. Bakalaura darba mērķis bija analizēt vai notiek nanodaļiņu pārnese uz audzēja šūnām mezinhimālo cilmes šūnu un MDA-MB-231 šūnu 3D kopkultūru modelī. Abas šūnu kultūras tika kultivēts S10 barotnē. Šūnu kultūru diferenciēšanai tika izvēlēts CD90 marķieris. MCŠ tika iezīmētas ar QD655 un pēc 6h inkubācijas tika veikta plūsmas citometrijas analīze. 3D kopkultūras modelis tika izveidots izmantojot PolyHEMA pārklājumu. CD95 DISC formation and internalizzation occur in lipid rafts of typeI and typeII cells

We investigated the membrane localization of CD95 in type I and type II cells, which differ in their ability to recruit and activate caspase-8. We found that CD95 was preferentially located in lipid rafts of type I cells, while it was present both in raft and non-raft plasma membrane sub-domains of type II cells. After stimulation, CD95 located in phospholipid-rich plasma membrane was recruited to lipid rafts in both types of cells. Similarly, CD95 cross-linking resulted in caspase-independent translocation of FADD/MORT1 and caspase-8 to the lipid rafts, which was prevented by a death domain-defective receptor. Extracorporeal shock waves increase markers of cellular proliferation in primary bronchial fibroblasts of COPD patients

COPD is due to a remodeling of small airways and destruction of the lung parenchyma with loss of the alveolar attachment as a result of pulmonary emphysema. Treatment of connective tissue fibroblasts with extracorporeal shock waves (ESW) increases their cellular proliferation and differentiation.
