Maltreatment of children by their parents or other caregivers is widely spread, and can cause serious injury and severe long-term consequences. Child maltreatment encompasses any acts of commission or omission by a parent or other caregiver that result in harm, potential for harm, or threat of harm to a child or adolescent (usually interpreted as up to 18 years of age), even if harm is not the intended result. Snail fauna of the oldest cemeteries from Riga (Latvia)

We report on the snail fauna from one of the oldest cemeteries from Riga city (Latvia), viz. Lielie kapi and Pokrova kapi. A list of all the snail species recorded from both cemeteries and limited information on the biotope conditions are given. Cecilioides acicula (O.F. Müller, 1774) is first recorded from Latvia and was found at a grassland within the tomb area of the Pokrova kapi cemetery.

Przedmiotem artykułu są tzw. przemianki, czyli miana towarzyskie, które zostały wyekscerpowane z opolskiej księgi cechowej garncarzy z lat 1727–1820 znajdującej się w Archiwum Państwowym w O polu. Temat ten jest ważnym uzupełnieniem ustaleń dotyczących polskiej antroponimii, gdyż, jak twierdzą historycy, nazwy te, mające charakter przezwiskowy (np. Płaczybabka, Marionek, Fiolla, Goniwiecha), mogły się stawać w późniejszym okresie oficjalnymi nazwiskami. Nazwy osobowe pokazane są na tle funkcjonowania grupy społecznej XVIII –XIX-wiecznych rzemieślników, w szczególności ukazana jest rola cechów w szkoleniu młodych fachowców oraz związane z tym zwyczaje. Royal Catholic Teacher Seminars, which fist appeared at the beginning of the 19th century as a result of Prussian educational reform, took on an important mission of training future organists. Therefore in many Silesian parishes of the 19th and the fist half of the 20th centuries it was a common practice for teachers to be organists at the same time. Artikkelissa tutkitaan äitien tyytyväisyyttä noin yksivuotiaan lapsensa varhaiskasvatuspalveluun tarkastelemalla palvelutyytyväisyyden ulottuvuuksia. Lisäksi tutkitaan äitien ja varhaiskasvatuksen henkilökunnan välisen yhteistyön sekä palveluntarjoajan (yksityinen vs. kunnallinen) yhteyttä äitien palvelutyytyväisyyteen. Lopuksi tarkastellaan, eroaako yhteistyön yhteys palvelutyytyväisyyteen palveluntarjoajan mukaan. Recurrent lumbar disc herniation: Is there a correlation with the surgical technique? A multivariate analysis

Purpose: The recurrence of a lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common cause of poor outcome following lumbar discectomy. The aim of this study was to assess a potential relationship between the incidence of recurrent LDH and the surgical technique used. Furthermore, we tried to define the best surgical technique for the treatment of recurrent LDH to limit subsequent recurrences.
