(H,ρ)-induced dynamics and large time behaviors
2018
In some recent papers, the so called (H,ρ)-induced dynamics of a system S whose time evolution is deduced adopting an operatorial approach, borrowed in part from quantum mechanics, has been introduced. Here, H is the Hamiltonian for S, while ρ is a certain rule applied periodically (or not) on S. The analysis carried on throughout this paper shows that, replacing the Heisenberg dynamics with the (H,ρ)-induced one, we obtain a simple, and somehow natural, way to prove that some relevant dynamical variables of S may converge, for large t, to certain asymptotic values. This cannot be so, for finite dimensional systems, if no rule is considered. In this case, in fact, any Heisenberg dynamics im…

Statistics-preserving bijections between classical and cyclic permutations
2012
Recently, Elizalde (2011) [2] has presented a bijection between the set C"n"+"1 of cyclic permutations on {1,2,...,n+1} and the set of permutations on {1,2,...,n} that preserves the descent set of the first n entries and the set of weak excedances. In this paper, we construct a bijection from C"n"+"1 to S"n that preserves the weak excedance set and that transfers quasi-fixed points into fixed points and left-to-right maxima into themselves. This induces a bijection from the set D"n of derangements to the set C"n"+"1^q of cycles without quasi-fixed points that preserves the weak excedance set. Moreover, we exhibit a kind of discrete continuity between C"n"+"1 and S"n that preserves at each s…
Photoluminescence-Based Spatially Resolved Temperature Coefficient Maps of Silicon Wafers and Solar Cells
2020
In this article, we present a method to obtain implied open-circuit voltage images of silicon wafers and cells at different temperatures. The proposed method is then demonstrated by investigating the temperature coefficients of various regions across multicrystalline silicon wafers and cells from different heights of two bricks with different dislocation densities. Interestingly, both low and high temperature coefficients are found in dislocated regions on the wafers. A large spread of temperature coefficient is observed at regions with similar performance at 298 K. Reduced temperature sensitivity is found to be correlated with the increasing brick height and is exhibited by both wafers and…
A Novel Method for Characterizing Temperature Sensitivity of Silicon Wafers and Cells
2019
In this paper, we present a novel method to obtain temperature dependent lifetime and implied-open-circuit voltage (iV OC ) images of silicon wafers and solar cells. First, the method is validated by comparing the obtained values with global values acquired from lifetime measurements (for wafers) and current-voltage measurements (for cells). The method is then extended to acquire spatially resolved images of iV OC temperature coefficients of silicon wafers and cells. Potential applications of the proposed method are demonstrated by investigating the temperature coefficients of various regions across multi-crystalline silicon wafers and cells from different heights of two bricks with differe…
Cold gas dynamic spray additive manufacturing today: Deposit possibilities, technological solutions and viable applications
2017
This paper reports the current potentials of cold gas dynamic spraying (CGDS). CGDS has been significantly developed to produce several functional solutions categorized as follows: deposits with a single powder nature, composites-based deposits, nanotechnological deposits and hybrid coating/substrate assemblies. CGDS process has improved in proficiency and is still gaining attention from scientists and industry. Covering a wide range of materials, both standard and advanced, this additive manufacturing process offers substantial applications for surface functionalization, structural or dimensional restoration, bulk production providing specific material properties, and art/decoration. Progr…
The α and γ plasma modes in plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition with O2-N2 capacitive discharges
2017
Two distinguishable plasma modes in the O2–N2 radio frequency capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) used in remote plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) were observed. Optical emission spectroscopy and spectra interpretation with rate coefficient analysis of the relevant processes were used to connect the detected modes to the α and γ modes of the CCP discharge. To investigate the effect of the plasma modes on the PEALD film growth, ZnO and TiO2 films were deposited using both modes and compared to the films deposited using direct plasma. The growth rate, thickness uniformity, elemental composition, and crystallinity of the films were found to correlate with the deposition mode. In re…
Analysis of nonlinear time-dependent properties of carbon fiber reinforced plastic under off-axis loading
2021
Abstract Polymeric composites are rheonomic materials and their deformation can be described using the hereditary elasticity relations which allow for describing the mechanical behavior under time-variable loading with consideration of the influence of temperature and other operational factors. A system of hereditary-type constitutive relations is proposed for off-axis specimens of a unidirectional carbon fiber-reinforced plastic subjected to loading at different strain rates. Using the algebra of resolvent operators and inverted transformation, the constitutive equations allowing of description of anisotropy of rheological properties and, in particular, sensitivity to strain rates are deri…
Long-term moisture absorption and durability of FRP pultruded rebars
2021
Abstract Up to 15-years long moisture diffusion into carbon, glass, and aramid fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) rebars is studied. To eliminate uncertainties in identification of the radial and axial diffusivities, a successive methodology for determination of the diffusion coefficients is proposed. The concept of apparent diffusivity taking into account anisotropy and edge effects is extended to cylindrical samples. The ratio of the axial and radial diffusivities is the lowest for carbon (3) and the highest for glass (81) FRP rebars. Durability performance of the rebars is estimated by monitoring their interlaminar shear strength (ILSS). Long-term exposure of FRP rebars in a humid environmen…
