Bathymetry time series using high spatial resolution satellite images
2020
The use of the new generation of remote sensors, such as echo sounders and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers with differential correction installed in a drone, allows the acquisition of high-precision data in areas of shallow water, as in the case of the channel of the Encañizadas in the Mar Menor lagoon. This high precision information is the first step to develop the methodology to monitor the bathymetry of the Mar Menor channels. The use of high spatial resolution satellite images is the solution for monitoring many hydrological changes and it is the basis of the three-dimensional (3D) numerical models used to study transport over time, environmental variability, and wa…
Search for pair production of first or second generation leptoquarks in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV using the ATLAS detector at the LHC
2011
This paper describes searches for the pair production of first or second generation scalar leptoquarks using 35 pb−1 of proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at √s=7 TeV. Leptoquarks are searched in events with two oppositely-charged muons or electrons and at least two jets, and in events with one muon or electron, missing transverse momentum and at least two jets. After event selection, the observed yields are consistent with the predicted backgrounds. Leptoquark production is excluded at the 95% CL for masses MLQ<376 (319) GeV and MLQ<422 (362) GeV for first and second generation scalar leptoquarks, respectively, when assuming the branching fraction of a leptoquark…
A New Perspective on the Textile and Apparel Industry in the Digital Transformation Era
2022
The textile and apparel (fashion) industry has been influenced by developments in societal socio-cultural and economic structures. Due to a change in people’s preferences from economic functionality to supra-functionality beyond economic value, the fashion industry is at the forefront of digitalization. The growing digitalization in the fashion industry corresponds to digital fashion, which can satisfy the rapid shift in consumers’ preferences. This paper explores the evolving con-cept of innovations in digital fashion in the textile and apparel industry. Specifically, it centers on the evaluation of Amazon’s digital fashion initiatives, which have made the platform the Un…

Designing a Multichannel Map Service Concept
2013
This paper introduces a user-centered design process for developing a multichannel map service. The aim of the service is to provide hikers with interactive maps through several channels. In a multichannel map service, the same spatial information is available through various channels, such as printed maps, Web maps, mobile maps, and other interactive media. When properly networked, the channels share a uniform identity so that the user experiences the different channels as a part of a single map service. The traditional methods of user-centered design, such as design probes, personas, and scenarios, proved useful even in the emerging field of developing multichannel map services. The findi…
Omni-Channel Intensity and Shopping Value as Key Drivers of Customer Satisfaction and Loyalty
2021
Omni-channel retailing consists of the complete alignment of the different channels and touchpoints that generate a seamless experience for consumers, allowing them to move freely through all channels. The consumer's perception of a seamless and consistent omni-channel experience is called intensity. This study reveals that this intensity in the shopping experience can offer value to consumers, and that intensity and shopping value also influence satisfaction and loyalty. We propose a relationship model that had been tested in a quantitative study with PLS, with a representative sample of buyers who had used the Click and Collect system. The main contribution of this study is to the literat…
Monetary policy and exchange rate dynamics in the Spanish economy
1999
As the Spanish economy gets more integrated in international markets, the real exchange rate becomes a key determinant of the monetary transmission. In this paper we trace out the dynamic response of prices, output and the exchange rate following a monetary policy shock. We estimate a structural VAR model whose identification scheme is based on the long run properties common to a large class of models. The results suggest that a small model with efficient asset markets plus nominal inertia and long run monetary neutrality, captures the essential features of the monetary transmission mechanism in Spain. The interest rate shock is well identified and the exchange rate overshoots its long run …
Alteration of loosely bound calcium in the guinea pig organ of Corti after treatment with diltiazem as calcium channel blocker
1997
After oral administration of the organic calcium channel blocker diltiazem to guinea pigs for 7 days, calcium ions were precipitated with potassium antimonate in the cochleae. The spatial distribution of the precipitates was studied by energy-filtering transmission electron microscopy and the amount of the ultrastructural reaction products formed was determined semiquantitatively by an image processing system. Compared with untreated control ears, the number of the formed precipitates was reduced drastically in the inner hair cells after diltiazem treatment. In addition, electron microscopic analysis revealed that the number of calcium precipitates attached at the basolateral membrane of th…
Effect of chronic exercise and ATP-sensitive potassium channel blockade on the spectral characteristics evolution of ventricular fibrillation in acut…
2013
Purpose: It has been proposed that chronic exercise produces a KATP channel blockade in ischemic myocardium. We have also reported that channel blockade and training exert very similar effects on energy required to defibrillate. In fact it is postulated that one mechanism by which exercise exerts an antiarrhythmic effect, is by blocking KATP channel. We have analyzed the evolution of spectrum characteristics of ventricular fibrillation (VF), in normoxic conditions and after acute myocardial ischemia, in isolated hearts from trained rabbits, and in hearts submitted to KATP channel blockade. Our hypothesis is that the spectrum characteristics of VF evolve similarly in trained hearts and in he…
Adrenoceptor-mediated effects on calcium channel currents are antagonized by 5?-(N-ethyl)-carboxamido-adenosine in guinea-pig atrial cells
1992
In guinea-pig atrial myocytes, the effects of the adenosine analogue 5′-(N-ethyl)-carboxamido-adenosine (NECA) in the presence of isoprenaline (ISO) on Ca2+ channel activity were analyzed. Single Ca2+ channel currents were recorded from cell-attached patches by application of several hundred 100 ms depolarizing steps. Under control conditions, burstlike activity of channel openings during some depolarizing steps were followed by variably long periods of quiescence (blank sweeps). During superfusion with ISO (100 nmol/l), ensemble-averaged (mean) current was increased by about 150%. The underlying mechanism was found to be a significant increase in the channel availability, defined as the ra…
