Nano-sized I12L6 Molecular Capsules Based on the [N⋅⋅⋅I+⋅⋅⋅N] Halogen Bond

2017

Summary Self-assembly of pre-organized subunits with a concave overall shape is an effective strategy for the synthesis of supramolecular capsules. We report the synthesis of a cavitand-based hexameric capsule held together solely by 12 robust [N⋅⋅⋅I + ⋅⋅⋅N] halogen bonds and its characterization in solution and in the gas phase via 1 H NMR spectroscopy, diffusion-ordered nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (DOSY), and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The [N⋅⋅⋅I + ⋅⋅⋅N] halogen-bonded hexameric capsule was efficiently synthesized from the isolobal metallosupramolecular Ag + capsule by application of the [N⋅⋅⋅Ag + ⋅⋅⋅N] → [N⋅⋅⋅I + ⋅⋅⋅N] cation-exchange reaction.

Receptor-mediated uptake of boron-rich neuropeptide y analogues for boron neutron capture therapy.

2014

Peptidic ligands selectively targeting distinct G protein-coupled receptors that are highly expressed in tumor tissue represent a promising approach in drug delivery. Receptor-preferring analogues of neuropeptide Y (NPY) bind and activate the human Y1 receptor subtype (hY1 receptor), which is found in 90% of breast cancer tissue and in all breast-cancer-derived metastases. Herein, novel highly boron-loaded Y1 -receptor-preferring peptide analogues are described as smart shuttle systems for carbaboranes as (10) B-containing moieties. Various positions in the peptide were screened for their susceptibility to carbaborane modification, and the most promising positions were chosen to create a mu…

Ni(II) and Pd(II) complexes of camphor-derived diazadiene ligands: steric bulk tuning and ethylene polymerization

1998

Abstract Nickel(II) and palladium(II) centers were coordinated to a series of chiral 1,4-diazadiene ligands. The ligand backbones are camphor derivatives and the imine nitrogens are attached to independently varied 2- and 2,6-substituted aryl groups. Upon activation with methyl-aluminoxane, the dibromo nickel complexes polymerize ethylene and 1-hexene. The polymerization properties are dependent on the steric features of the aryl substituents on the imine nitrogens.

Electronic and Steric Effects: How Do They Work in Ionic Liquids? The Case of Benzoic Acid Dissociation

2010

The need to have a measure of the strength of some substituted benzoic acids in ionic liquid solution led us to use the protonation equilibrium of sodium p-nitrophenolate as a probe reaction, which was studied by means of spectrophotometric titration at 298 K. In order to evaluate the importance of electronic effect of the substituents present on the aromatic ring, both electron-withdrawing and -donor substituents were taken into account. Furthermore, to have a measure of the importance of the steric effect of the substituents both para- and ortho-substituted benzoic acids were analyzed. The probe reaction was studied in two ionic liquids differing for the ability of the cation to give hydr…

ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis and anti-Staphylococcal Activity of New Halogenated Pyrroles Related to Pyrrolomycins F.

2008

The chemical synthesis of new halogenated pyrroles related to pyrrolomycins F is described and the anti-staphylococcal activity compared. The replacement of 4′-bromo atom of parent compounds with two chloro atoms at 3′ and 5′ position increase the antibacterial activity against a reference strain of S. aureus.

Determination of toxic elements by cathodic-stripping-voltammetry

1981

The DPCSV determination of arsenic, selenium and tellurium in the sub-ng/ml range is discussed. After electrolytic deposition of the elements as intermetallic compounds with copper on the electrode surface, the determination is carried out by cathodic stripping. The simultaneous determination of selenium and tellurium or of selenium and arsenic is possible. Problems which occur in the application of these methods are discussed.

Structure-based evaluation of the resonance interactions and effectiveness of the charge transfer in nitroamines

2011

Structural data for five nitroamines of general formula Me2N–G–NO2 show effectiveness of the ground-state charge transfer to be most and least efficient in N,N-dimethylnitramine and in 4-N,N-dimethylamino-β-nitrostyrene, respectively. Electron-donor power of the amino nitrogen atom in the latter compound is less than that in 4-nitro-β-N,N-dimethylaminostyrene (these two compounds are isomers). Natural population analysis shows that the charge transfer from the amino to the nitro oxygen atoms is most effective in N,N-dimethylnitramine, Me2N–NO2. The nitro oxygen atoms are not the only acceptors of the negative charge lost by the amino nitrogen atom. The nitro group in two substituted nitrobe…

Nanolayered Cobalt-Molybdenum Sulfides as Highly Chemo- and Regioselective Catalysts for the Hydrogenation of Quinoline Derivatives

2018

[EN] Herein, a general protocol for the preparation of a broad range of valuable N-heterocyclic products by hydrogenation of quinolines and related N-heteroarenes is described. Interestingly, the catalytic hydrogenation of the N-heteroarene ring is chemoselectively performed when other facile reducible functional groups, including alkenes, ketones, cyanides, carboxylic acids, esters, and amides, are present. The key to successful catalysis relies on the use of a nanolayered cobalt-molybdenum sulfide catalyst hydrothermally synthesized from earth-abundant metal precursors. This heterogeneous system displays a tunable composition of phases that allows for catalyst regeneration. Its catalytic …

Surprising solvent-induced structural rearrangements in large [N⋯I+⋯N] halogen-bonded supramolecular capsules

2018

Coordinative halogen bonds have recently gained interest for the assembly of supramolecular capsules. Ion mobility-mass spectrometry and theoretical calculations now reveal the well-defined gas-phase structures of dimeric and hexameric [N...I+...N] halogen-bonded capsules with counterions located inside their cavities as guests. The solution reactivity of the large hexameric capsule shows the intriguing solvent-dependent equilibrium between the hexamer and an unprecedented pentameric [N...I+...N] halogen-bonded capsule, when the solvent is changed from chloroform to dichloromethane. The intrinsic flexibility of the cavitands enables this novel structure to adopt a pseudo-trigonal bipyramida…
