Efficient and portable acceleration of quantum chemical many-body methods in mixed floating point precision using OpenACC compiler directives

It is demonstrated how the non-proprietary OpenACC standard of compiler directives may be used to compactly and efficiently accelerate the rate-determining steps of two of the most routinely applied many-body methods of electronic structure theory, namely the second-order M{\o}ller-Plesset (MP2) model in its resolution-of-the-identity (RI) approximated form and the (T) triples correction to the coupled cluster singles and doubles model (CCSD(T)). Electronic Design for a Bleeding Detector to be Used in Intraoperative Radiotherapy Applications

An electronic design for a bleeding detector used with mobile linac during intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) is presented. It consists on a readout circuit based on a De Sauty Bridge and a wireless power supply using a supercapacitor. The goal is the measurement of the height of fluid present in the applicator in order to avoid a misadministration dose during the irradiation process. A minimum measurement height of 5 mm is required by clinic to be confident with the selected radiation dose. The measurement circuit uses a capacitive sensor which detects variations lower than 0.1 pF. Efficient protocol for qubit initialization with a tunable environment

We propose an efficient qubit initialization protocol based on a dissipative environment that can be dynamically adjusted. Here the qubit is coupled to a thermal bath through a tunable harmonic oscillator. On-demand initialization is achieved by sweeping the oscillator rapidly into resonance with the qubit. This resonant coupling with the engineered environment induces fast relaxation to the ground state of the system, and a consecutive rapid sweep back to off resonance guarantees weak excess dissipation during quantum computations. Stability improvement of isolated multiple-output DC/DC converter using coupled inductors

Coupling output inductors is a very popular solution when designing a multiple-output DC/DC system. Space-borne circuits are one of the areas where a custom DC/DC converter design with coupled inductors could be preferred to have a detailed design of all variables. Output voltage regulation can be improved using coupled output inductors on a multiple-output DC/DC converter, and, as demonstrated in this paper, it provides an enhanced stability. Bidirectional high-power high-efficiency non-isolated step-up DC-DC converter

This paper presents the results of a high-efficiency high-power (5kW) non-isolated bidirectional DC-DC converter. High efficiency, high stability and simplicity are the main goals, and no galvanic isolation is required. The proposed topology is a new BOOST converter with output filter where input and output inductors are coupled together which can be designed to be a minimum phase system. This topology provides therefore input and output current filtering, reducing noise and need of additional filters. A demagnetization circuit for forward converters

This paper presents a demagnetization circuit able to operate the forward converter with an higher efficiency and with a wider input range. In particular, by the means of few added components, the magnetizing energy and the leakage one are continuously recovered, and the transformer reset and the primary mosfet OFF voltage clamp to the input, both under steady state and transient operations, are provided. Address Event Representation (AER) approach to resistive sensor arrays

Address event representation (AER) has become an excellent strategy when approaching traditional frame based applications, mainly vision sensors. In this paper, and Within this scope, the potential of the AER paradigm is demonstrated when considering resistive (non-vision) sensor arrays. For showing quantitative evidences, MOS AMS 0.35 μm versions of some of the circuit cells typically used in AER systems, such as Winner-Take-All (WTA) circuits, have been implemented and analyzed. In these unit-cells, basic resistance-controlled sources are considered as per sensing devices. Preliminary simulation results demonstrate that this approach is valid for a wide range of resistive sensors.

Characterization of clamp-on current transformers under nonsinusoidal conditions

This paper reports the performance of clamp-on current transformers under nonsinusoidal conditions. A set of experimental measurements helped to determine the ratio and the phase errors under two conditions: 1) sinusoidal excitation with frequencies from 45 to 1000 Hz and 2) nonsinusoidal excitation using the fundamental frequency and one harmonic, with adjusted phase shift. It was found that ratio and phase errors are affected by the phase angle between the harmonic and the fundamental and the harmonic amplitude. Frequency response of Measurement Current Transformers

In this paper the frequency response of two CTs is experimentally evaluated in the range of 30-600 Hz. A theoretical analysis of CTs behavior has been developed by means of the equivalent circuit. It was shown, by an experimental test, that, for the frequency range analyzed, the transformer equivalent circuit is a valid tool for the evaluation of CT performances.
