Breathing and heartbeat synchronize to each other and to brain function and affect cognition in humans. However, it is not clear how cardiorespiratory rhythms modulate such basic processes as synaptic plasticity thought to underlie learning. Thus, we studied if respiration and cardiac cycle phases at burst stimulation onset affect hippocampal long-term potentiation (LTP) in the CA3–CA1 synapse in urethane-anesthetized adult male Sprague–Dawley rats. Investigation of the elastic and inelastic scattering of 4He from 11B in the energy range 29-50.5 MeV

We have measured the angular distributions for the elastic and inelastic scattering of 4He from 11B in the isochronous cyclotron U-150 M INP RK. The extracted α-particles beam has been accelerated to energy 29 MeV and then directed to 11B target. The experimental results were analyzed within the framework of both the optical model using different complex potential and the double folding potential obtained with different density-dependent NN interactions which give the corresponding values of the nuclear incompressibility K in the Hartree-Fock calculation of nuclear matter. peerReviewed

The article draws attention to the issues of symbolic functioning of the city which was formed of two different entities as a result of political and economic decisions. In the 20th century, the history of a traditional city got entwined with a modernistic industrial city which was taking shape. As a result, ideologies and politics impacted on the newly-established conurbation. Impulsive excitation of high vibrational states in I2–Xe complex on the electronic ground state

Abstract High vibrational states, up to ν  = 22, are excited and investigated on the ground electronic state of a 1:1 I 2 –Xe complex isolated in solid Kr using femtosecond CARS technique and spontaneous resonant Raman measurements. The results show that this system is a promising candidate for investigations of coherent control of bimolecular reactions by using vibrational wavepackets on the ground electronic state.

Excitation Energy-Transfer in the LH2 Antenna of Photosynthetic Purple Bacteria via Excitonic B800 and B850 States

A newly developed CIEM method that uses a combination of semi-empirical or ab-initio configuration interaction methods and exciton theory to predict electronic energies, eigenstates, absorption and CD spectra of aggregated chromophoric systems with environmental interactions included is extended and used for estimation of excitation energy transfer rates. Excitonic energy levels of the two ring systems the B800 and the B850 of the light harvesting antenna LH2 of Rhodopseudomonas acidophila and the corresponding absorption spectrum were calculated by assuming inter-ring interactions to be zero. Excitation energies and photoabsorption oscillator strengths of the Rydberg series in CF3Cl. A linear response and quantum defect study.

Vertical excitation energies of the CF(3)Cl molecule have been obtained from a response function approach with a CC reference function to determine absolute photoabsorption oscillator strengths in the molecular-adapted quantum defect orbital formalism (MQDO). The present work covers more highly excited Rydberg states than have been experimentally reported. Assessing of the reliability of the present calculations is provided through a comparative analysis between the results of the molecule and the Cl atom. This can be used to allow for predictions of the same type of properties in other analogous systems.

Stochastic Response on Non-Linear Systems under Parametric Non-Gaussian Agencies

The probabilistic response characterization of non-linear systems subjected to non-normal delta correlated parametric excitation is obtained. In order to do this an extension of both Ito’s differential rule and the Fokker-Planck equation is presented, enabling one to account for the effect of the non-normal input. The validity of the approach reported here is confirmed by results obtained by means of a Monte Carlo simulation.
